For my night time/early hours arrival at hospital I wore day clothes as I hadn't gone to bed (went into labour early evening). For my day time birth I wore a maternity t-shirt and pyjama bottoms as I'd tried to have a nap after being sent home in the morning and had to go back in the afternoon whilst in full labour - gave birth less than an hour later!

I went into labour in the evening and i was in a nighty but i changed into a tracksuit, but you really wont be worrying what you wear when you are in labour.

Good luck

i got up dressed (early morning) insisted on washing hair even though doubled over in pain then prceeded to switch straightners on - to be fair i abandoned the straightening and went in with damp hair. I then had a water birth anyway so my hair went curly and frizzy and wet again.

When I went in with my first child I didn't want to take my knickers off!!

Second child I KNEW I had to take them off!!

Caro1302 · 23/07/2009 20:41

I showered and changed into maternity trackie bottoms and an old t-shirt. Then I cleaned the carpet where my waters had stained it pink- I didn't want to have to deal with it when I came out of hospital

I've told this story on here before. I had to transfer in via ambulance and wandered outside to the waiting ambulance naked, bleeding, contracting and howling, across the neighbour's lupins and in full view of anybody curious to see why a blue light ambulance had pulled up. Midwife ran after me waving a pair of knickers and pleading with me to put them on. I was 2 days of labour and 6 hours of pushing in and couldn't have given a flying monkey who saw me.

Pyjamas for Ds and it was January this year and fecking freezing, even with a coat on. contractions were far to strong to consider getting dressed, he nearly came out in the car as it was. Threw everything off when i got there to jump in the birthing pool. Bemused midwife still trying to take my blood pressure and fill in my notes..........get moving woman, he's coming out!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 23/07/2009 20:54

DS1 and DD, bith times was woken up in the early hours with contractions, so went in in the sleep bra and t-shirt I'd been sleeping in, plus knackered jogging bottoms/yoga trousers, and gave birth in sleep bra and t-shirt.

With DS2, who was induced, I went in dressed and changed into a nightie (I never wear proper nightclothes usually) Would have felt strange to just wear a t-shirt, but does seem weird when I look back on it.

Don't think I ever got undressed.

Pingpong · 26/07/2009 14:09

my waters broke at 1am and my PJs were saturated. I changed into fresh ones and they were soaked too - my waters just kept coming and coming. I sat on a towel in the car and when my DH asked if I wanted clean PJs at the hospital I said no I wanted clean ones for after the birth. I dripped and dripped and dripped. I was a soggy mess!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 26/07/2009 14:16

went into labour at 5:30am, waters broke, I put on a pad, went to hosp for a check as DD needed monitoring - I got dressed! I think I would have got dressed even if earlier than that! I then came home and stayed dressed until 7pm and went back in to hospital wearing tracksuit bottoms and one of DHs's t-shirts.

Ivykaty44 · 26/07/2009 14:49

I got dressed, then didn't like what I was wearing (too hot for hospital) so got undressed and redressed - all the time 6 year old dd was telling me to breath through the contractions bless. This was on a frosty november night at 3.50 ish

magnummum · 30/07/2009 20:28

Happened to me twice and I got dressed both times!
