Hi im 32 weeks pregnant and had a show yesterday evening, no pains or contractions although i did have very strong contractions and a lot of pain a couple of weeks ago. As there were some fresh red blood clots in it i went to hospital where they examined and monitored me and said to go home and rest, didnt really give me any explanation why i had a show at 32 weeks. I was just wondering could i still go full term or is the birth going to happen soon?? this is my 5th baby its been 14 years since my last and i didnt have a show with the others that i can remember. Has anyone else had a show early and gone on for several more weeks before labour started?? or should i expect things to happen soon?

its a sign something is happening, everybody has one but may have already been at hosp in full stages its just the plug coming away from the cervix.

I had a show at 31weeks and 2 days. It was with DD1 and neither midwife nor I recognised it as being a show. She told me to rest and nothing else happened...

Prior to this I had had no contractions or Braxton Hicks or anything.

My waters went at 5am on the following Sunday - exactly 32 weeks. Called hospital (whilst gushing in the loo ) and they said to come in as it was so early.

Nothing happened - lots of monitoring and steroid injection.

Contractions started mid-morning. Medication to stop onset of labour was taken at 11.30am but didn't work.

DD1 arrived at 12.26pm!

Was in NICU for nearly a month - big brain bleed...

Absolutely perfect now.

(DD2 also came early but no show. I was waiting for the show so I would know 'it' was on the way. Otherwise very similar to DD1's arrival but only 5 weeks early so only 10 days in NICU.)

Good Luck!

Didn't have a show with ds1,but had a show with ds2 at around 4am and he was born just before 6am.

3 and a half weeks between the show and labour starting. Didn't have any blood, just a long thick string of jelly-like mucous.

First baby so was looking for it from about 29 weeks, it turned up at 33 weeks. DH told me not to be so paranoid - "its nothing its too early ", midwife panicked slightly "its far too early I hope it was just some mucous. If ther wasn't any blood its probably just mucous". I went into labour at 37 plus one

I gave birth exactly a week after "the show"!

Jojay · 06/07/2009 08:42

Within 24 hours, both times.

KingRolo · 06/07/2009 08:52

I had some slightly bloody mucus at 37 weeks then nothing until the day I went into labout at 39+3.

Kayzr · 06/07/2009 08:53

Had a show at 7am and DS2 was born at 6.50pm.

With dd 1 had show at 9 am contraction started 2am next day and she was born at 6.37 the following day. she was born at 39.4.
Dd 2 show at 9 am, contractions started at 3am the next day and she was born at 8.05 the following day. She was 40.2. Fairly similar don't you think.
