C Section healing or infected?

I had a c section 5 weeks ago on wed (my 1st c section) while most of its healing I have two small bits (in the middle and to one side) that are looking like holes and are still oozing/weeping a tiny bit. Dose this sound normal? or could it be infected?

It's pretty normal for surgical wounds to weep while they are healing, and in the past O have not worried unless there was redness around the wound that was starting to spread. However, I reckon you don't take any chances with CS wounds so in your shoes would probably see the nurse at the GP. It might just need some iodine gauze over the weepy bits to speed them along a bit.

I, not O, obviously.

i would go and see nurse or gp, they can clean it and dress if needed. Normally infections are yellow puss, and smelly, but not always. Do you feel at all unwell?
(other than normal sleepness, no food, new baby feeling) LOL

Thanks for replying mrshappy & lisa123.
LOL no not been feeling too bad lisa123, the whole family have just got over colds so thats nothing to worry about. And its not yellow or smelly at all it does look more like weep & maybe very slightly red around it.
Will make app to see the nurse tomorrow just to double check everything ok- gotta go anyway as DS1 has conjuctivitus!!

hi just saw ur post, definitely go get it checked by a doctor. not a nurse. at first 5 weeks post section, it should be completely closed and no oozing.

i've had 2 sections.

mel1981 · 29/06/2009 11:57

Thanks heron will def get it checked out. It is mainly closed and healed just 2 small holes which are weeping. Ive never had a section so not sure what is normal

good luck and let us know how you get on

Saw my doctor and he said its not infected but because its 'open' theres a higher risk that it could get infected so he has given me a cream to use. Got my 6 week check next week anyway so they will review it then to see if its got better or worse. He thought its something to do with the way the stitches were done- thought the were cutting (in a way) into the skin. if that makes sense?
