Silly questions about a C section!

I have had an emergency c section and think i am going to opt for an elective one this time round. Don't remember an awful lot from the first time around.

Do you only wear a gown whilst going down to theatre? Can you wear a bra? Do you wear the stockings for the surgery? And do you have to be make up free and nail varnish free? Do you have to have your waters broken before hand and do you have to have any vaginal examinations?
Think thats all my silly ones i don't want to ask the consultant!

Do you only wear a gown whilst going down to theatre? usually you get changed into it on admission, so it depends how long you have to wait (if you get delayed by an emergency etc).

Can you wear a bra? No, I was asked to remove it. But I kept it on while waiting, and only took it off just as i was walking in.

Do you wear the stockings for the surgery? yes, they give them to you when you are admitted

And do you have to be make up free and nail varnish free? yes.

Do you have to have your waters broken before hand ? No, they break the waters when they make the cut.

do you have to have any vaginal examinations?
No.

For last cs I did get skin to skin in theatre whilst they stitched me up, we dressed her much later on in recovery and I really recommend you ask for that. It was the anaethetist that made sure of it for us.

I couldn't do it for my first, as it was quite an emergency, and for my second elcs I had really low BP and felt really poorly/faint, though I did manage to bf in recovery for both of them.

And do you have to be make up free and nail varnish free? Yes, i believe its so they can see the colour of your skin and nails because they can tell different things from this.

This was at my hospital when i had my section in 2005. Might be different now.

2 sections, 1 in 2006, 1 2007. Both in France.

but you do now have to have a MRSA test

Ive had 3 c-sections 2 emerg and one elective and am now 25wks pregnant with c-section planned for 39wks

My section was 2 weeks ago

Gown - given to me just before and kept it on until following morning

Bra - had to have monitor thingies attached to chest, so I took mine off

Stockings - they put inflatable ones on me after I'd had the spinal

Make up & nail varnish - nail varnish not allowed but I wore clear and it was ok!

Waters broken - no

VE - no

I also had MRSA test, had forgotten about that!

I second all of the above but they do have to check down below after that you are bleeding, they clean you up and put a voltirol up your bum but you will be numb and have your baby to cuddle so you wont notice.
