Hi there,
I'm new to the area and dont have much idea what the local hospitals are like. I need to decide where to have my baby, EITHER at the countess of Chester or Rhyl.... can anyone help me with this one? it would be soooo appreciated! Please share your experiences, good or bad!
Many thanks!!!
Nicky

dd1 and dd2 were born at APH - although they are 8 and 3 now so a few years ago. actually spent 5 weeks pre birth of dd2 in the ante natal ward (ward 52 or 53??). honestly had no complaints - seemed perfectly clean from what i remember, midwives were lovely,(a couple of them are mums at dd1's school,)DH didn't make it for the birth (long story)and the midwives really looked after me.great consultants too. Can't really comment post natally - dd2 was very prem and was down on the NNU, so most of my time was spent down there - btw NNU care is fantastic should it be necessary.
spent a few days at Glan Clwyd ante natally as well (transferred due to lack of NNU beds)and found that a 'good' experience as well.

It's looking bad for the Countess!

Yes, not looking good for the countess... yet it was in the UK TOP 40 hospital list this year....... which must say something. (hmm)

I know a Countess midwife personally and she is extremely about anyone opting for natural birth in the face of any risk i.e. VBAC, twins, breech. In fact I would say she is a real C-Section flag waver and always tells me how you can be up and about 2 hours after the surgery nowadays. She is also very pro continuous monitoring.

The attitude they apparently have there is that the Welsh hospitals are all old fashioned and mumsy. Give me that any day!
