Induced by intravenous drip - how much faster is the labour?

I'm only 19 weeks so have lots of time to wait! But I'm not getting any useful information by googling. Is there a rough guide to how much faster labour goes when it is induced by drip?

I am at least half an hour away from hospital by car and my most recent labour only lasted 75 minutes from being hooked up to the drip (my waters had broken the night before, but I wasn't having any contractions). If there is a chance a spontaneous labour will go this quickly, I'd want to hurry getting on the way to hospital, and I'll have to get my husband back from work first.

I had 2 spontaneous labours before the induced one. First took 12 hours from 4cm dilated to birth and second 3 hours from 2cm dilated (24 hours after waters broke).

I'm guessing it's most likely I'll have another 3 hour labour like the second one, but if anyone knows better please post .

My third was like yours - induced, short and sharp. Fourth was spontaneous, 12 hours. So don't panic - induced labours are not indicative of how a spontaneous labour would be. Good luck.

Thanks for the answer, though it's a bit worrying to think my fourth labour might be as long and painful as my first - giving birth in the car suddenly doesn't seem so bad! Was your fourth labour your longest?

There is no way to know...sometimes inductions work well and things move along, other times they can be quite prolonged so, as Hassled said, you can't judge your next labour compared to the last one induced or otherwise. My third was faster than my fourth....both were spontaneous. Sometimes there is just no rhymn or reason.

my induced labour (started because my waters broke, but no contractions) lasted 20 hours... would hate to think what it would have been if I hadn't been induced!
