MW has just been, am 3cm dilated, 50% effaced, 1/5 (?in relation to brim?)Sweep performed. Have got some back pain, but no contractions. How long would you expect it before the sweep has it's effect (ie I start contracting)or should I be getting something by now? All answers gratefully recieved!

I think a sweep can make things happen up to 48 hrs after it if I remember rightly.

What you need to do now is go for a nice long walk or bounce on your birthing ball, the movement/pressure might help move things along! Goodluck!

sounds like you are on your way anyway, your cervix is softening and dilating and baby is engaging. if it works, it will be within 48 hours. just get on with stuff and you will know if you are need to pay attention !

Thanks ladies - My mum reckons that the fact I have been up cleaning since 8 is a good sign too
