Stinking cold - due in 4 days! Anyone gone into labour whilst ill?

Hi Ladies just wondered if anyone has any experience of going into labour with a bad cold. I am feeling truly dreadful at the moment and worried labour will start. I have barely got the energy to get up the stairs at the moment never mind deliver a baby.

I had a cold and chect infection for 5 weeks then finally got rid of it for two weeks before getting another one!! So I assume my immune system is pretty low at the moment. I am worried how I'll cope with the sleepness nights etc feeling like this. I am also feeling down that during such a special time I will be feeling so rubbish - I so hope this baby hangs on for a week or so until I am feeling a little better! I am very congested and despite ringing the Midwife and Chemist can't get an answer as to whether it is safe to use vicks or olbas oil - has anyone used these?

LOL, I read that as 'stinking cold due in 4 days' I thought tht was amazingly clever of you to re-empt an illness!

Seriously though, sorry you are feeling rough so soon before you are due. Hopefully someone will come along with something useful to say. Get well soon x

Your immune system will probably pick up after baby is born I felt like crap for a week and then all of a sudden I was bouncing with energy that is how my mum knew I was going to go into labor. So maybe you get a burst of energy just prior to onset of labor I have heard a few women say they did.

I have used both vicks and olbas oil during my pregnancy, I believe they are both fine to use! I too feel crap, not for same reason, but because of spd mainly, so I do sympathise

I had the most hideous cold when I was in labour. I seriously said the next day to dh that the cold was worse than labour had been
Beyond worrying myself silly that I was going to give my pfb a cold (bf, so was passing on immunities) it didn't really affect anything tbh.

Good luck!

Thanks Ladies, I have spoken with NHS direct who have said vicks and olbas oil are fine to use sparingly so I am off to get some now! Froggy I also have SPD so can sympathise!

Thanks again xx

Hiya i had been in bed with a bad cold 2 days before my labour started and i can honestly say it had completely gone once i had given birth, I think i sweat ed it out during labour. Its the worst when u are ill when pregnant, due to not being able to dose up. Plenty of fluids and rest if poss x x
P's good luck
