Hello- I had a sweep at 38 weeks on wed as have SPD and bad sciatica with this pregnancy. I had a meeting with a consultant on Monday who had a route around but she said my cervix was posterier and closed. On wednesday my midwife did a sweep and found I was 3cm dilated, my cervix was central, soft and partially effaced. I have since lost my plug... but nothing a big fat zero nothing has happened since really.

I have tried, clary sage bath, raspberry leaf tea, birthing ball, reflexology, a jar of jalepenos, curries and sex... nothing has worked.

My first labour was fast and furious so this is completely different!

Hs anyone had this and is it quite common... also how soon can they break my waters because I am due to be induced on 27th May butr I assume as I am already dilating they will just break my waters..?

When my midwife did my sweep she said she could of broke my waters if she was allowed too?

TIA

Is your baby "back to back" (sorry don't know the technical term)

If so, I predict you will have your baby by dinner time tomorrow.

don't think so, how can you tell if they are back to back, I can feel her push her bum out, iyswim

if you can feel her bottom it's quite unlikely she is op, (back to back)

I had this with my 5th, had sweep at 37 wks, (had oc and was facing induction week later) was 4 cms and very favourable, said she could have broken waters if allowed.

Went into spontaneous labour starting at 3 mins apart, 45/50 secs each on the Friday night, dd3 was born early Friday evening.

You could try evening primrose oil 1000mg but imo, you'll likely go soon anyhow.

Good luck, and don't forget a labour thread.

I had 2 sweeps at term plus 7 and term plus 10 and was 4 cm dilated, and waters where bulging.

I had lots of cramps, plst loads of mucus and yet I was still induced by ARM at 13 days over, and ds was back to back although he did turn just before he came out

If its any consolation the entire labour and birth took an hour!!

Oh it'll be tonight, you'll wake up at 3am and be eating tea and toast around 9am with a new bubba in your arms (let me know eh!)

Erm - with DC2 I was 3 cm and fully engaged for three weeks (well 20 days), with BH contracs pretty much throughout. I even went on maternity leave early as after a routine examination at 36 weeks, the midwife told me the baby would be here within 24 hours! A fortnight later I was till waddling around, VERY pissed off and grumpy

Everyone said, "Ooh, your labour will be really quick" but it took 17 hours.

I'm sure this won't happen to you though Good luck!! BB xx
