Pineapple - do i eat the whole thing?

I've been given anice ripe pineapple, I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow. Is it right to eat it all including the core, obviously not the skin (I hope). Would it be o.k to eat/ drink it tonight or will I regret it? Any experienced pineapple induced ladies' experiences would be welcome.

Umn, not sure but I read somewhere that you need to eat 8

ShowOfHands · 26/04/2009 19:25

You need something like 7 or 8 for the desired effect. Not at all worth it. Eat it by all means if you like pineapple but it won't make your baby come.

largeginandtonic · 26/04/2009 19:26

It WILL it has magical effects

Go with the placebo effect, expect your first contraction as you take the last bite.

MadamAnt · 26/04/2009 19:30

OMG imagine labouring after eating eight pineapples [squitty poo emoticon]

pottycock · 26/04/2009 19:31

Oh God, yes - the poo!! Don't do it OP. Bounce on the ball or jump on dh/p...less messy!

pottycock · 26/04/2009 19:32

FWIW I went 15 days overdue and tried everything - vindaloos , gin and tonic, mercilessly frisking DP every night, bouncing on the bloody ball till 2am......NOTHING worked.

ilovesummer · 26/04/2009 19:35

Sound like I will just have to enjoy it for pineapples sake as there is no way I'm going to eat 8, although you never know, this one might have magical properties. Anyway sex is definitely effective as it brought on labour with my other 2, I quite liked the idea of widening my horizons

It's prob just coincidence/wishful thinking but I had a fresh pineapple for the two days before I went into labour. Worth a try if you like them!!

Plonker · 26/04/2009 22:59

Ok, so admittedly someone may have been taking the piss when telling me this, but I heard that you don't actually eat the pineapple ...

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 26/04/2009 23:01

I ate several whole pineapples (one at a time) when overdue with DD2. They were very nice but did nothing to bring on labour.

SallyJayGorce · 26/04/2009 23:10

Likewise LadyG etc. Tried curry, walking, acupuncture, jumping, sex, long walks. Think it was a membrane sweep and nature calling time with all three though.

BeehiveBaby · 26/04/2009 23:15

Nope, stick it up you apparently. I was told to use slices as pessaries .

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 26/04/2009 23:44

Jeez, and there I was eating the stuff.

CoteDAzur · 27/04/2009 16:30

Sticking pineapple up your fanjo

NOW I've seen everything on MN.

BeehiveBaby · 27/04/2009 20:14

I didn't do it, I did stick up evening primrose oil capsules though.

Dont think it will work but eat it if you fancy. Will be thinking of you as somebody who recently was 12 days late. Longest 12 days of my life. I used to pay people to pick up other children from nursery as l just did nt want to see people and be asked "Still here then?????" fools.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 27/04/2009 20:33

Ooh, I'd go for the battenburg rather than the whole pineapple- especially if you have heartburn[ouch]
