Hi girls

well, after a all night with more or less painful ctxs and coming with some regularity at certain points , this morning all kind of stoppedI'm still having some niggling pains but nothing major...It starting to be to much to handle...If nothing by tomorrow going to give a go to castor oil...I'm sick of pineapple, RBL tea, walking, tidy up the bloody house, sex, and so on!!!
I had so much hope to have my stress free HB this time....
40+13 today....

Don't do the castor oil. I know how tempting it is, when I was overdue with ds I got a friend to buy me some but thank goodness I didn't use it. I was induced with dd and it was bad. When I went overdue with ds I was convinced the same would happen again, but it was a lovely 3.5 hour labour Give your body a chance to get going. You will regret the castor oil, trust me. You are perfectly entitled to refuse induction, as long as everything else is fine. Your dates may even be wrong iyswim

surprisenumber3 · 25/04/2009 14:37

hi MMF, i am feeling exactly the same. I am 40+8 and not favourable for induction because of previous sections (although they have agreed to induction next weekend). Also nervous because DS1 born at 34 weeks had IUGR and the placenta looked 'old' due to PE so am nervous something will happen now I'm post-dates as well. So, so anxious.

I have totally had enough.

Good luck to you

doulalc · 25/04/2009 16:08

Did you have a sweep or two done? That may be enough to move things in the right direction. I would do that before the castor oil.

Would only consider the castor oil to avoid a hospital induction with a drip. Keep in mind, it works for some, not for others...and some women find it still is in effect during early labour if things take off fairly soon, which would not be pleasent.

Having partner use some accupressure might work...tends to work better once labour is underway, but it might help move things along. If baby is quite low, would your midwife rupture membranes to try and get things going first so that you still might have your hb?

Hope it is not too much longer for you and you get your hb!

MamaMoonFairy · 25/04/2009 17:20

had 2 sweeps ( one yesterday)I'm quite overdue (40+ 13 days)from tomorrow at any stage they might try to keep me in the hospital or even my MW will refuse HB because I'm to far gone, so I quite have like a dead line from tomorrow castor oil or induction... can t face the hospital alternative ... just can t...

If you want a HB then definately don't do the castor oil- think of the mess all over your lovely couch

MuffinBaker · 25/04/2009 17:26

I am probably wrong but I think I have read that taking CO can make the birth not great for the baby.

MamaMoonFairy · 26/04/2009 10:44

So

here I go... on my way to the hospital for first monitoring can believe I got to this... I had so much hope.... feel so scared too...
let u know latter what's happening

In case you read this before you go, I had an induction second time round and it was quick! Think 24 not 72 hours. I also went over and didn't get to have my HB. I'll be thinking of you today, good luck, and you'll get to meet your baby soon!

Insanity · 26/04/2009 19:45

Hope it is all going well!

MamaMoonFairy · 26/04/2009 20:27

Well

as I expected they wanted to keep me in straight away for induction, this consultant tried to be really scary, she at least wanted to book me in for an induction as soon as possible and she threatened me that if I did n t book now it could not be space for me in some days time!!!! this is the reason that i dont want to go to hospital to have this baby and i will do castor oil at last resort

Try a nice warm bath instead - please I had one when I was overdue with ds and my waters went as I got out, ds born 3.5 hours later. Worth a shot surely??? I know you want to avoid induction, but castor oil can make the baby pass meconium which is the last thing you want

reikizen · 27/04/2009 08:21

MamaMoonFairy. I was t+16 with dd1 and did end up with hospital induction after desperately wanting a home birth so I know how deeply upsetting it is for you. The fact is that poor outcomes are associated with post term birth but we don't kow why, those babies may have had problems anyway. The consultant is thinking of these potential problems and usually assumes that if you disagree with them, it is because you don't fully understand (!! I know!!) The student midwife in me though wonders why baby is not coming so late? Is the head engaged? What position is baby in? Have you had a sweep? If so, what did they say about the condition of the cervix? Be aware that baby will probably have passed meconium due to being post dates castor oil or not and also that second labours tend to be shorter and easier than first time so if you do go for induction it may not be the horror it was first time.
Good luck!

reikizen · 27/04/2009 08:24

Forgot to mention, I was speaking to a midwife the other day who said the latest homebirth she had done was term +20. So all is not lost!

MamaMoonFairy · 27/04/2009 14:47

I had my lovely water birth at home it was an amazing experience and baby had no meconiom in water and all its perfect.
