Warning major major TMI post!

Hiya I'm 40+5 and had a sweep on friday. Since then had loads of gunk pretty much whenever I go for a pee, like big long strings of the stuff.
Had another sweep on monday and have had loads since then too. It's brown tinged now.
I know that having MW's rummaging around my cervix is gonna loosen stuff around there but was wondering if it's normal for it to go on for so long?
I've had a fair bit of lower back period type pain too but from friday to monday I went from 1cm to 3-4cms dilated so I put it down to that.
Sorry about asking such a gross question but I do worry about stupid things!

You can experience a fair amount of discharge as your cervix continues to thin out. The brown is likely old blood from when the sweep was done and from the effacement. You have a nice head start with the dilation...hopefully not too much longer before things take off!

What a useful post as I was just about to ask about the show. Before when I've had a show I have had the blobby reddish tinged stuff which was stringy, but early this morning I felt leaking and have had a brownish tinge in my pad but no stringyness. Is this likely to be the show with my waters going? The pad is fairly wet and sweet smelling so am assuming it is the amniotic fluid but the "show" has thrown me a bit as I thought it tended to be mucousy. Sorry to be a bit dim - and on number 4 too..

Whether or not it is amniotic fluid or just watery discharge (which can be quite common towards the end of pregnancy) can be hard to tell without actually seeing it.

Amniotic fluid should basically be clear, so if you think it may be that, and it is discoloured that would be something they would want to check to be sure.

If it continues to leak...especially after you have been lying down, and you think it might be more than just discharge, might be a good idea to have it checked out to be sure.

I've been having a watery discharge for a few days now. Don't feel it trickle out when I stand up or anything, it's just much clearer and much thinner than my usual discharge.

Will mention it to MW tomorrow anyway. Am currently 40+5 with my third and had a show last week.

Thanks guys, I phoned MW today as there's still loads of the stuff every time I go to the toilet. She said it's totally fine, it's definately just show.
Going in tomorrow for induction anyway so at least the end is in sight!
