I know it's been done before... but what can I do to get this baby started... ?

I'm now past due and being threatened with an elective section next week, which I really really don't want.

With my DD I went into labour naturally just a couple of days past due and I just kind of assumed this time would be the same... however, nearly a week later there's still nothing.

I've had a sweep from the midwife, long walks, hot baths, enough raspberry leaf tea to float a ship, been back and forward over speed bumps and potholes and even had a go on a wee trampoline... still nothing doing..

... tomorrow I'm off to get clary sage and a mountain of pineapple... any other ideas ?

PS ... did try to enlist DH's "help", but he looked queasy at the mere suggestion and offered to make me a curry...

BUCKETS of evening primrose up to 5000mg a day - and you can use the capsules as a pessary too.

someone linked a reflexology diagram on our AN thread (tis ages ago so you will have to google as I can't remember). had been early with DS1&2 so was fed up waiting for DS3. i poked about a bit with the reflexology and he arrived on his due date (nicely waiting til his brothers were at school).

Good luck, hope you don't have to wait too much longer before you meet your new bundle

similar HTH

Good luck and I hope you are on your way. FWIW do you know anyone with a motorbike and a sidecar? Get him/her to take you for a run in the sidecar over some cobblestones... Failing that an old bus going over a few hills might work.

Or I could run up behind you and let off a firework...

Sorry to go MIA, EPO is not advised for pg, due to it leading to softening of cervix and therefore risking prem labour,,,,,, !!!!!!! BUUUUUUT is good for bringing on labour, you can take it from about 37weeks.

There is a link here on one of the MN pages, that is how I found out about it. I have forgotten where it is but will try to find it for you.

Basically it is roughly 3 or 4 capsules a day, I took one internally at night, and it really really helped. I am sure it is what stopped my tearing this time too as it softened the whole area!!!!

BTW - I tried the pinapple, all I got was a sore and bleeding mouth from the acid!!!! Ouch!

Thank you Variety... I'll give that a go this morning... I saw a reflexologist during my pregnancy so I might see if she can see me in the next day or two. Maybe booking an appointment will be enough !

And SGSH gave me my good laugh for the day...

However, despite all measures I've tried so far, still nothing moving. Another long walk today I think. At least it's nice to get out on a lovely day like this.

If you find anything let me know! Lol. I am having reflexology on tuesday and the lady has said that just by looking at my feet she will be able to give me and idea of how ready my body is for labour! No idea how but hey - worth a shot.

Also, definatly try and push for as many sweeps as you can. They should be able to tell you at each one what your cervix is doing, if it is nearly ready etc.

Forgot to add the EPO must be without the added Vitamin A, can have Vit E though

Sorry I can't find the link that I was trying to find. But I hope that you get the labour started soon.

Apparently though EPO thins the blood. I took it last time but had a few issues with thin blood during labour (eg blood flooded everywhere just getting the drip in!)
