and did it work?

Am 40 weeks with third. Went to labour ward last night as contractions painful and every 5 minutes. went on monitor about contractions obvious but they told me to come back when less than 4 mins apart. Was also only 1 cm dilated.

Went for routine appointment with own MW today and she offered a sweep. She said cervix was very high and she couldn't get inside properly to give things a good 'stir' but babies head was right there behind cervix. Was very painful and when she had finished she had bright red blood all over her fingers. She said I might have a show and when I got home there was loads of stringy orange/pink mucous which has been coming out ever since. Contractions have strangely stopped since the sweep and baby has been going crazy.

Has anyone had a sweep in these circumstances and it has still worked?

i am sure if you go back for one or two more sweeps in the next few days it will work soon. just be pushy and ask for as many sweeps as you can get!! that is what worked for me second time around.

I had 2 failed sweeps over the last week, because of a posterior cervix and then finally a sucessful one this morning. Mine was rather like yours (I could have written that description).

Good luck, hope things happen for you soon.

cakefaced - was the successful one like mine or would you call mine a fail because she couldn't get in there properly? have loads of brown discharge now.

Hope things happen for you soon too.
