I am just over my due date. Yesterday I started losing my mucous plug. However, today it's been constantly coming out of me whenever I squeeze on the loo and it's a brown coloured snotty discharge (sorry!!!), which I am hoping is normal. There's been a heck of a lot of it coming our all day, so for 12 hours. I am wondering it it's the bloody show, but not pink at all, just brown and globuly. I have been having lots and lots of period type pains and completely irregular contractions of sorts. I have read other threads and the mucous plug appears to be clear in colour normally, so would really appreciate anyone else's experiences. Thank you v v much! x

Sounds like a show to me.

Thanks. I am hoping it's a show; hope it stops soon though, as there's been so much of it!

Any other signs?

Cramp-like sensations all day. Sometimes regularly (every couple of mins, but no way painful enough to be proper labour I am thinking (1st babe). At the mo, they seem to be happening a fair amount. No waters have broken, that's for sure. I am hoping I'll realise what a contraction is when I feel one, but at present all I know are period pains and my tummy going hard as nails. Feeling stupid that I don't know where I am with all this, but not in pain really. Am hoping for a home birth.

sounds like your show - with my second baby mine went on for a couple of days. Started off like you describe and then tend into more like a light period, along with regular contractions. Does sound like you are in early labour. Keep moving around, get some rest if you can and drink loads of raspberry leaf tea! Good Luck

Sounds like you are getting on your way.

Cheers guys. Good to know it's probs early stage labour and the brown is normal (for some of us!). I have definitely got a taste for raspberry leaf tea now

Brown usually indicates old blood, have you had an examination/sex/a sweep in the last day or so? once it gets redder that indicates new blood which usually means dilatation (i.e: imminent labour). Are you sure your waters aren't trickling? as brown also indicates meconium, if you're def sure sounds like the start of a show and you should hopefully have your baby by the end of the Easter weekend!

by the way "cramp like sensations with tummy going hard" ARE contractions - who says it has to be painful?
