Breech baby ecv or not?

Im 35weeks and bubba is still breech! This is my third baby with th eother 2 being striaght forward natural labours. Now heres my dilema....

Dh and I are not fully happy with the idea of ECV any good experience? Or bad ones? But although I desperatly do not want a c section I have bad spd and after tearing with both of my other 2 am not relishing the thought of having my legs in stirrups for the stiches.

I don't think I'd opt for it.....I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with #6 and 3 of mine have been in the wrong position after 35 weeks. One was transverse at my 38 week appt, one was oblique breech at 37 weeks and my last baby was breech at 36 weeks. This one has been either transverse or breech the whole time so far. I have never been offered ECV with any of them (actually, the mw I saw last week seemed horrified that I'd never been scanned late in pg when my babies weren't in the right position, but that's another story LOL!)

The thing is that if you've already had 2 babies, everything is that much more stretched so baby us more able to get into these naughty positions but conversely is more able to get into a head down position also. Even if ECV were successful, baby could flip back to breech.

Oh, and all of mine have behaved and gone head down ready for straightforward vaginal deliveries

Thanks dotty I am still holding out hope he will turn by himself although have resigned myself to a csection so either way I wont be devastated!

I would recommend an ECV as there is a good chance that your baby will turn head down.
It is certainly worthwhile trying to reduce the chance of a Ceasearean, especially if you have SPD.
Not only will your pelvis still be unstable after the birth but you will also need to recover from surgery.
You may also like to consider having Acupuncture to turn your baby.
The research is very encouraging with very high success rate.
Finally many 3rd babies will still turn cephalic at this point as your abdominals are not as strong any more.

I would try both ECV and acupuncture although they did not work for me as DS cord was wrapped around his chest and neck twice it gave me closure that I did everything I could before before my CS. My ECV was painless, it was just like having a high pressure massage on your tummy.

There are a few head down/bum up positions you can try that might encourage baby to turn vertix....you might also see about visiting a chiropractor trained in the Webster Technique...designed to help babies get in the optimum position.
I would try an ECV in hopes of avoiding a CS if possible.

Hi my baby was breech at 36 weeks but by the time I had a scan to check his position at 38 weeks he had turned all by himself. I had been doing the head down/bum in air thing quite a bit. So don't despair - the baby might turn yet.

Well he did turn!! All by himself but his head is still not engaged just got to hope he stays where he is! And i got my dates confused as well so am only 34weeks, i put myself 2 weeks ahead as thought I would see midwife again at 36weeks forgetting I had an appointment for 34weeks - doh!

Good to hear.... More than likely he will stay put now. Most babies will have moved head down by 34 weeks, even more so by 36.

Thats good to hear Doulalc I've just bought a birthing ball as well to encourage him to to go down a bit more!
