VBAC hypnobirthing

Asked about hypnobirthing before and I am still confused!!

Apparently I can get a specific VBAC hypnobirthing cd.

I've searched but seem only to be able to find hypnobirthing only.

Is my friend wrong? Will Mongan Method/ Natal hypnobirthing be useful for VBAC?

Thanks

www.natalhypnotherapy.co.uk/13.html does this help?

It's not Hypnobirthing but more hypnosis for birth. Hypnobirthing is fine for VBACs, esp if there are some issues left after the c-section.

Oh nutty girl, thank you very much!

Don't think I have any issues about c-sec. It was an emergency, but I was told I was one of the calmest patients they'd ever seen.

Would it be too much if I also got the hypnobirthing and listened to both? Waiting to hear from some amazon sellers as not clear if books include a CD.

Tbh you'll probably find they're very similar. The hypnobirthing is just a 'brand' of hypnotherapy for giving birth iyswim.

The place I linked to also does the vbac cd as part of a set that includes pregnancy relaxation and postnatal recovery hypnosis cds, which you might find more useful than another birthing one.

HB differs as it starts from the premis that pain is not necessarily a normal part of birth.

HypnoBirthing is perfect for VBACs. Speaking as a hypnotherapist, hypnobirthed mum and doula, I wouldn't buy a CD that focusses on a specific type/mode/place of birth as that focusses your mind too much on the birth being one way, which - if it doesn't go to plan - can leave you in a pretty unpleasant emotional state - you need to focus on relaxation and confidence and any hypnosis for birth CD (not one focussed on VBAC) will be just fine for that. When I teach VBAC mums I don't do or say anything differently for them in hypnosis for this very reason, although we will focus on the VBAC in the antenatal preparation "pre-talk".

In terms of CDs/MP3s I recommend these:

If you buy the HypnoBirthing book with the orange cover (and a picture of a baby) which is far cheaper on Ebay than Amazon it comes with a free CD which covers relaxation conditioning and birth rehearsal imagery. Here:

You do definitely need a book though, whether it be the above one or Grantly Dick Read "Childbirth without fear".
