Or have I lost all bladder control (sorry if TMI!) How can you tell? Got back from shops and suddenly felt like I had peed myself. Is this the beginning of the end or do I need to start wearing nappies!!!

This is grim, but a good way to tell. Get a pint glass. Go sit on the loo. Have a wee. Put pint glass under fanjo and relax like you are going to wee again. If your waters are going, then some will go in the glass. If there is anything, hold it up to the light. If it is your waters, they will be pale with bits in.

If nothing, pop a pad in, and see if it gets wet

How many weeks are you. Do you feel like fluid is still coming out. Have a sniff and if the fluid doesn't smell like urine (may smell slightly sweet) it might be your waters. I wasn't sure at first with my first pg beacause just a small amount came out, but then over the next hour or so there was a steady stream!

ronshar · 27/03/2009 16:01

Hello.
First are you due yet?
You can tell if it your waters if there is alot of it and it smells a little bit. Also it might not be clear but have a slight colour to it.
If you are not sure you can phone the delivery suite and talk to them. You should let them know anyway.
Good luck. I hope this is it for you.

think it must be waters as have totally soaked through a pad and trousers and it still not stopping. It is a yellowy colour. I am 40+5. Panicing now !!

I remember posting the exact same thing at 37+5 weeks with my first baby.

4 hours 20 mins later she was in my arms.

I was told to come in get checked out to see if it definitely was waters, then I was sent home and told to come back in 48 hours for induction if I didn't go myself which I did obviously.

Give the MW a ring different hospitals have different policies.

Your going to be a Mummy really soon, so excited for you

Lulumama · 27/03/2009 16:31

sounds like your waters and a show which means baby should not be far behind !! you can call labour ward and advise them you think things are starting, but you won;t need to go in until you have contractions, but if your waters have fully ruptured, then current NICE guidelines recommend induction of labour after 24 hours. worth a phone clal

CMOTdibbler · 27/03/2009 16:31

You need to call just to let them know - as there is a time limit between when your waters go and when they want the baby out due to the risk of infection.

They might want you to pop in to be examined to confirm it, and see whether you are dilating

liahgen · 27/03/2009 16:33

shuffle Up Lulu

Labour thread on Friday evening, lovely.

Give labour ward a call, let them know how things are preogressing.

Is your dh with you? Other children, childcare in place.

Lemon drizzle anyone?

Lulumama · 27/03/2009 16:40

Lulumama · 27/03/2009 16:41

CMOt, may i ask you two question?

  1. what does your name mean?
  2. did you have a different name before and did i 'know' you?
lilymolly · 27/03/2009 16:48

Good luck x

CMOTdibbler · 27/03/2009 16:48

It's from Terry Pratchett - theres a character called Cut Me Own Throat Dibbler who sells dubious sausages inna bun

No, I've always been CMOT on here - I was on a different site on the MC/PG after MC/BF/EBF boards as a different name

Lulumama · 27/03/2009 16:49

ok, thanks, CMOT

Welshygirl · 27/03/2009 16:50
