Still bleeding nine weeks post partum

I had a anti biotics for a uterine? infection (passed very large clots in days after the birth) so expected to bleed for a while longer.
However, nine weeks later I'm still bleeding and am further worried as today following three afternoons of period type pains and some dragging/pulling sensations, (although I don't know if I have had a period because of the bleeding) I passed a clot larger than a tampon which I can only describe as being hard and fibroid like in apearance (quite unlike the blood clots earlier on).
I haven't had any pains since, but have resumed light bleeding.
Sorry for the tmi, but I was hoping somebody could tell me if they had experienced anything similar or knew what it could be to put my mind at rest.
I will be mentioning it at my post natal check next week.

I think it's probably worth a phone call to your midwife/HV/GP in the morning just to get their opinion. It could be that you need more anti biotics or a scan to see if there are any more retained products.

I personally wouldn't leave it for another week. It might be that the big clot you passed today was the last of it but it's worth checking out IMO

Crysanthe, I agree with Bristols do contact your GP or midwife. I had bleeding still at 12 weeks post delivery. Kept going back to the GP as I felt awful and thought it should have stopped. Sometimes the bleeding would almost stop but if I sat for any length of time there would be a gush of blood again. After 2 courses of antibiotics I was rescanned and there was a large amount of placenta left. I had a D and C and the bleeding stopped the next week. Consequently I felt much, much better
