I had an emergency section with my DD, managed to get fully dialated and was pushing for ages but she ended up stuck. taken for section and she was so far down she had a dislocated shoulder when they pulled her out.
The plan all through this pregnancy was VBAC but midwife has said that due to this baby being bigger than 1st the risk was too high so booked in for section friday.
so dissapointed and tearful, really want to enjoy this birth. any encouragement or tips greatfully received. Thanks

I loved my elective section with DD2. It was so much nicer than the emergency one with DD1. I had skin to skin with DD2 in recovery for ages which I never had with DD1. My DH was in theatre and took loads of photos even of her on the scales. My recovery was also much faster than the first time and I was skipping down the ward after 1 day!

Loved mine, was very calm and I was very well looked after, was out after 3 days.

I was planning a VBAC a couple of weeks ago but my waters went and I didn't go into labour so ended up with an elective c-sec (was acutally officially another emergency because it wasn't scheduled in as normal but was actually elective !). I felt pretty tearful about it beforehand - had done loads of research and prep (and spent a fair bit of money !) on being ready for a VBAC and really wanted it.

That said, the section went so much better than the emergency. We were able to talk about how we wanted things done beforehand - screen lowered as dd2 came out so we saw what she was first, chose music (wasn't that important but was a nice touch), DH took loads of photos, everyone was chatty and happy. I had skin to skin too.

I'm finding the recovery frustrating and have moments when I feel a little bit sad I won't get to experience normal labour but I bet its not all its cracked up to be .

oh yes, I was out in 48 hours (I had dreaded being in for ages as I was in for a total of 8 nights with dd1 before, during and after).

Mine was lovely, wasn't really elective as she was breech, i too was hoping for vbac and very sad to give up on it. Had an emergency the first time which was awful.
They followed my birthplan to the letter and i felt in control and happy. Got skin to skin, had no screen and got them not to talk as she was born so dh and i were the first people she heard.

Thanks all. I konw deep down that its for the best, but feel the same as you do wheelybug just have to come to terms with not having a "normal birth". But def encouraged by the quicker recovery.
