I'm on DC2, with DS I had contractions before waters went, this time we were in the park this afternoon and the waters just went whoompf. Midwife has been to check me (planning home birth), and doula coming later to do labour-inducing reflexology,

any other tips most welcome! I'm just worried because it shouldn't apparently happen this way round.

am here holding your hand let us know what happens

My waters broke early with both my two, both times at about 7am ish, as I got out of bed. With ds the waters were stained, so I had a c-section that afternoon (he was transverse oblique, and not detected until we had a scan, so lucky I didn't have the home birth planned!). With dd same thing, and contractions never started (I didn't have any for ds either) we went for three days before I was in the end induced, and went on to have a c-section. My uterus was good a holding babies, just no good at helping them out!

Good luck Gemzooks, I'm sure with one successful birth this one will go fine too.

keep moving, walking, swaying, breathing. hope all is going well.

Gemzooks · 22/03/2009 04:48

thanks for nice messages! ctx are 5-10 mins apart, more painful, might wake DH in a bit. but haven't got rapidly more painful. might have a walk when the sun rises..

Good news!

Good luck, your baby will be here soon

bohemianbint · 22/03/2009 08:19

Morning - any sign of a baby yet?

I had exactly the same thing with DS2, waters went at 2am, no contractions until the afternoon and nothing regular until the evening. I told the midwife I refused to be taken into hospital unless absolutely necessary - but he was born just after midnight (22 hours after waters went) at home in the pool (birth pool, not swimming pool!)

Have to say, whilst it took longer than DS1 it was much more civilised and less painful for it. Hope you find the same - let us know!

Reallytired · 22/03/2009 09:07

I'm glad your contractions have started. Lets hope your baby is here soon.

JustKeepSwimming · 22/03/2009 11:30

Any progress???

Good luck!

FlyMeToDunoon · 22/03/2009 11:44

36 hours here from waters breaking to contractions starting. I was just monitered each day.
Baby had to stay [and me] in hospital for a few days to check she did not have an infection afterwards.
Good luck! How exciting.

My waters broke about 6:30am.

Contractions niggled throughout the day and happened properly about 6:45pm. DS was born at 2:50am the next morning.

Am hoping Gemzook's baby is here now

Gemzooks · 22/03/2009 18:34

hi all! After niggly contractions all night, it all kicked off at 6 am, doula came at 7, midwife at 9, was going crazy with pain, found to be fully dilated at 9.45, baby Zoë Soraya born 10.18 am!! in pool, no tearing! DS saw the birth which wasn't the plan (he is 2.5) but it was fine. lovely mother's day present. thanks to all for your great support! bit of a contrast to 36 hour labour first time round...

Absolutely fabulous news!!!!
Congratulations & welcome to Zoe

(can't figure how to do the dots thing, sorry!)

What weight was she? hope she settles in soon.

And your DS will love it when he's older knowing he watched her being born (he won't remember or be traumatised so don't worry).

So fab, i've come over all broody and envious

Roll on ttc & baby no 3 for me!

Lulumama · 22/03/2009 19:30

Big congratulations and what a fitting way to spend Mothering Sunday

Welcome to the world Zoe

dinkystinky · 22/03/2009 20:00

Congratulations and welcome Zoe! Glad it was a nice fast labour when it did start - what a lovely mother's day for you...

NorktasticNinja · 22/03/2009 20:04

Congratulations Gemzooks! Glad to hear your labour was so much quicker this time. Zoë Soraya is a beautiful name

I remember you saying you live relatively close to me, do you mind me asking which doula you had? Was she good? Cordelia is coming over this week but Jennifer was fully booked already. I've not spoken to Erica yet though.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 22/03/2009 20:08

Lovely news! Well done Gemzooks
xx

Chrysanthamum · 22/03/2009 20:11

My waters went first with both sons and as contractions did not follow, I was induced within 24 hrs. I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck

neolara · 22/03/2009 20:25

Brilliant! Well done you! And welcome to baby Zoe.

FlyMeToDunoon · 22/03/2009 20:28
