waiting times at st mary's- very urgent !

Hi guys,

I'm new here and thoroughly confused ! I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with our first baby conceived thru ivf. we had our ivf at the lister fertility clinic after which i came to pakistan to spend some time with my family.However, a few episodes of spotting early on plus one very scary episode of bleeding led me to stay here much longer than i anticipated. Things are much better now and I'm keen to go back to the uk, however my family now wants me to stay on and have the baby here and go back in one go (the antenatal care here is pretty good)
Hubby and I are keen to get back and i was wondering if anyone knew that if i go back early next month when i'll be in my 6th month how long would i have to wait before i can be seen by a mid wife at st mary's? I mention st mary's bcz thats where we live. Also is it too late to book with them or would they still accept me?
I;d really be grateful for any advice !

Congratulations. If I were you, I'd call your GP back here to get their take on it - as they'll know what St Mary's policies are and be most up to date on referral times. I gave birth to DS2 and do know that they are very busy there so possibly you would need to sort out your first appointment in advance of coming back to the UK (as I had to book up all my appointments a month in advance).

Thanks for the reply. I did try to get info from my GP but they said i had to be back in the UK before they could help me in any way as they needed to have it on their records that i was actually pregnant ! Was your experience at st mary's a good one? Having gone thru IVF i am very worried about the NHS but then going private costs an arm and a leg.

If you mean St. Mary's manchester, I'm having my baby there in August, and the MW says that by then the brand new maternity unit will have been built

I ended up booking in late (16w) and I think there's about a 2 week backlog for appointments, but I was already on my GP's notes as being pg and my pregnancy has been very uneventful. But if you've been bleeding I'd have thought they'd be able to get you seen sooner.

I've been happy with the care I've received so far - but I've not needed much in the way of care really.
