Painkillers for afterpains?

The women in my family seem to suffer really badly with afterpains with second and subsequent babies so with DC2 due in a few weeks I'm currently bracing myself and want to make sure there are lots of painkillers in the house in case the hospital aren't great at giving them out!

Can anyone recommend a brand that worked well for them and is there anything that should be avoided whilst breast feeding?

hospitals usually are pretty good while you're there with the paracetamol. I managed to persuade them to let me have ibuprofen for my migraine on day 1 but they weren't keen (don't think there is a real problem with it though)

My hospital were great with giving out paracetamol right on time so you didn't miss a dose. I found that to take the edge off... I may have had something stronger but it was for stiches pain and I cannot remember what it was.
