Waters broken ????

Am 39+4 - just standing in the kitchen and had a bit of a flood of liquid which soaked through underwear and trousers.

Can you wet yourself to this extent at this stage ?

(am a second timer but dd was manually evicted at 37 weeks last time so all a bit of a novelty !).

if you think your water has broken gust give your mw a quick call - she'll prob just want a quick check.

SoupDragon · 10/03/2009 15:37

I would say it is entirely possibly it'w your waters. If you've just wet yourself it will smell of wee, if it's waters it smells, er, sweet I think.

Wheelybug · 10/03/2009 15:38

I have to confess to having sniffed my pants and it doesn't smell of wee I don't think and I would describeit as sweetish.

OOh blimey.

There you go then Fabulous!

orangina · 10/03/2009 15:40

Ooh, you're having a baby ! Good luck....

dinkystinky · 10/03/2009 15:49

Wheelybug - that's exactly how my waters went. Good luck.

Wheelybug · 10/03/2009 15:53

Thanks everyone.

MW says to ring them back in a couple of hours - if I have contractions by then I'll have to go in and be checked as VBAC, if not then they'll come out.

(I had my last reflexology session this morning.... spooky...)

Good luck with your VBAC hope you start getting contractions soon - fingers crossed for you.

Doesn't look like I will get a VBAC before my C-section booked for Monday. Although last time my waters went after an internal in the afternoon while watching Heston Blummental on TV bouncing on my birthing ball - had an internal today and Heston is on later.

SoupDragon · 10/03/2009 16:35

Best get bouncing then

Wheelybug · 10/03/2009 18:28

MW confirmed waters gone/going but head still high and bp a bit high so have to go in tonight. Sounds like good chance they will c-sec me unless head sorts itself out v.v.v. soon. So feeling a bit miffed.

Oh well guess I'll get to meet my baby v.v. soon one way or another which is exciting.

Thanks for advice everyone.

Hi wheeleybug

Been lurking on the VBAC/March antenatal thread - fingers crossed for you that you get a shot at your VBAC, but as you say, at least you'll meet your baby soon! Thinking of you.

liath · 10/03/2009 19:33

Good luck, wheelybug !

Wheelybug · 10/03/2009 22:46

Thanks Superjump and big wave to Liath !

Well I am back home ! Confirmed waters gone - although probably just hind waters although they're not sure. Won't do anything to hurry it due to previous c-sec so they told me to come home and if nothing happens I will be c-secd on Thurs. Head still high, cervix unfavourable so guess we're probably heading for c-sec (on mother in law's birthday as well - harumph). What a palaver !!

Argh, are there no niggles at all? Are there any cobbled streets you could drive over en-route to getting a very hot take-away curry?? Fingers crossed things get going before thursday.

electra · 10/03/2009 22:57

ooh - good luck

SillyCalamari · 11/03/2009 05:03

Congratulations!
I thought my waters broke on Saturday but either I'd wet myself (didn't feel like it) or some trapped bath water escaped. Nice...

PS rather than put it down to reflexology, maybe it's the fact that you're 39+ weeks?????!

Wheelybug · 11/03/2009 13:13

LOL Calamari - you might be right (I like to think the money I spent on reflexology was worth it though ).

Anyway, having said that, I'm still here with no hint of a contraction - thought I had started off in the night but then fell asleep again so clearly wasn't !

My Mum has just reminded me that they think her waters went with me a week before they induced her and she'd had her waters broken with my brother which didn't send her into labour and I had my waters broken with dd and didn't go into labour so I'm thinking maybe it doesn't work here !!!

Am gearing up for theatre tomorrow. Ah well... worse things happen at sea !
