Lindo Wing's Ms Lorin Lakasing

I am about to have my first baby and have decided to use the Lindo Wing. However, on calling around I discovered that four of the big name consultants (Teoh, Murphy, Thorpe-Beeston and Miskry) are all away around the time of my due date! I have managed to book myself in with Miss Lorin Lakasing but was interested in hearing from people that have used her to deliver their baby, especially by c-section. I am already aware of a complication and so am eager to get the best care possible.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sorry, I don't know the name... but a few of my friends have used the Lindo Wing and it has a super reputation, so I would imagine anyone employed by them would be pretty good!!

WHen are you due?

I'm opting for the Lansdell wing of St Thomas' I think (it's where I'd planned to have DS but events overtook us and we ended up at the Portland!)

I know Lorin when we trained together at King's. I am sure you will be in very good hands!

I am due at the end of October... thanks for the feedback, it really does help to ease the nerves!

Can I tell you - she is utterly brilliant and if you choose her you will not regret it. She delivered my DD by cs and she is fabulous.

I agree with Lady Thomson, she delivered my dd in Dec 08 by c section and she was calm and collected and consequently so was I. I would definitely use her again if I ever get pregnant again

I was with Teoh - but waters broke early while he was on holiday and I ended up with his understudy ... Lorin Lankasing.

She was absolutely fantastic - and infact I would rate her above Teoh because her bedside manner is so much better.

She is really lovely - did a great job with my c-section.

Mines too, I really think that I couldn't have got a better doctor, and having heard the horror stories from my NCT friends of their deliveries I think that I definitely did the right thing by going to her.

Soory to resurrect this thread, but can I ask if anyone has had a straightforward vaginal delivery with Lorin Lakasing - or do all her Mums end up with C sections?

missismac · 23/02/2010 18:14

Meant sorry, Ooops.

veryworriedme · 10/03/2010 19:14

lorin delivered my baby a couple of weeks ago - was a vaginal delivery but waters broke over 3 weeks before due date and so had to be induced. had epidural, antibiotics etc so was all "strapped in" but only took 9 hrs! perhaps not straightforward but certainly made as easy as possible. Lorin monitored the whole thing and did the delivery. I trusted her judgment completely and would certainly recommend her.

I had my second baby Liana delivered by Lorin on 26th Feb 2018. She was absolutely amazing!! Couldn’t have asked for a better dr. She was a delight throughout the 9months too.

Kiwi2013 · 12/06/2019 18:18

My daughter was vaginal delivery and she managed to deliver the baby safe..

Does anyone have any more recent feedback on Dr. Lorin Lakasing? I have heard good things but would just like to be sure before committing. It is overwhelming to choose a doctor without meeting them and I am new to the UK. (Will be for a c-section most likely)

Hi there, for anyone wanting a recent experience. I went through NHS, and after having two babies, completely normal pregnancies and 2-3 hour vaginal births with both, i ended up getting partial placenta previa with my third. I kept bleeding heavily and was in amd out of the hospital, until they decided to keep me in st marys at 33 weeks. I had met Lorie at one of my scans, and believe me I was petrified. After such easy pregnancies I was an emotional wreck, every bleed I thought I was losing my baby. She was AMAZING!!!! I had two scans with her and then always saw her on ward rounds. Even when she wasn’t around and I bumped into her, she would always tell me how every morning she’s in , she checks to make sure I’m ok and that I haven’t had a bleed. At 36.4 weeks I had a bleed and they kept me on observation overnight until in the morning I was told, we would be delivering the baby. I started panicking and crying, and then saw Lorin! She was the one doing my csection and she calmed me down straight away!! I had all sorts of horrible thoughts in my head, and she completely calmed me down. I was taken to main theatres where she was so so lovely and calm, and so maternal!!! She is honestly the loveliest doctor , as well as being extremely competent and brilliant at what she does. Lorin lakasing as well as Lorna phelan are such amazing human beings, genius doctors and so lovely! I would always recommend them.
