If applicable, what did you do with your other DC(s) when you were in labour?

I'm not due DC2 til July but I'm thinking ahead.... Obviously it was fine first time round as it was just me and DH at the hospital and no DC's to be looked after at home but I'm now wondering what to do this time round? We have DH's family nearby who could look after DS (who will be 21 months by the time little bro/sis comes) but he has never stayed with them or been overnight away from us. He sees them most weeks though so knows them pretty well. Not sure whether they'd be better coming to our house or we would drop off DS to theirs on the way to hospital? (...they are on the way).

What did you all do? Would it be wise for DS to have some overnights here and there at the inlaws without us so it's not a total shock? Any advice?

had a home birth - ds1 slept through it.
My parents are 15 mins away, so after my waters went called my mum to come over to be here with ds1 in case I needed to go into hospital.
But it was all over by the time she arrived.

DS1 (was 15 months) went to my moms when i had ds2, i was overdue by a week and had made sure all his things were a hers already just in case. he had slept there before though and see's her on a regular weekly basis. If you're at all worried about your son not being happy sleeping at theirs i'd ask them to come to yours, or definitly try him with a night at theirs to see how he likes it.
i'd have a bag at theirs just in case there are any changes of plan, and also a bag, basket, drawer of anything they may need for him if he stays at home too, with maybe a list of instructions, routine etc

I guess it also depends on their commitments too, if you're in hospital for a few days and they need to be at their house it may be easier for him to be used to staying at theirs.

i'm now 5 weeks off having baby number 3 and have nothing ready for any of us but hopefully in the next few days i'll have a bag fo each of us packed, even the dog. It takes all the extra stress out of it if you have a plan for everything just in case.

Good Luck
