Oooooooh yes! Feeling exactly the same!! But i only have 10 DAYS til due date!! aarrgghhh!!!! This is DS2 but i'm still cra**ing myself!!!! was ok and quite 'looking foward' to the birth until about a week ago then i think it all hit me!.... OMG!!!

StealthPolarBear · 11/02/2009 15:15

I was just about to start a thread like this except I have a lot longer to wait! Am about 8 weeks.
I had a really good birth with DS and so thought I would be fine about this one but it just keeps playing on my mind. Not sure why, not so much the pain, just the uncertainty, lack of control and the inevitability of it I suppose - one way or another I'm going to give birth.
Do you two have other DCs?

StealthPolarBear · 11/02/2009 15:15

I felt like this before birth of DS after not worrying for months! Resigned myself to the fact i would have to do it.

Nt sure if this is helpful but after 3 days of mild contractions i really wanted to get on with it and was so excited when waters finally broke and things progressed!

For what its worth (and everyone is different) i found birth bit fine, i would do it again tomorrow but not keen on the whole pregnancy thing so could be a problem!

KT1983 · 12/02/2009 12:02

Am with you on this one, I was due on Monday (still no sign) but the more and more I go overdue the more and more nervous Im getting - Really dont want to be induced!

wideratthehips · 13/02/2009 14:00

they say its a bit like building a boat in the back garden and then standing with hands on hips asking "how the hell am i supposed to get that out?"

dc3 is due in four weeks and every so often i get the 'fear' when i think about getting the baby out....not that my other two had any problems but...just...its bloody hard work!

ellideb · 13/02/2009 14:05

Yes I did. I know how you're feeling but remember you do have pain relief options available to you from the mild (a bath) to the more hardcore (spinal).

I had diamorphine, epidural and spinal before resorting to G and A and wish I had chosen that in the beginning because it was the most effective. So was taking a warm bath. Don't panic it doesn't last forever and the sense of achievement and buzz you get afterwards makes you want to do it all over again! Mine ended in an EMCS but I still felt that buzz and want to do it 'for real' next time!

Bluemary3000 · 13/02/2009 14:17

I can understand how you feel, I have a 14 mth DD who is not crawling or walking (flexible hips apparently!) and have found out I'm 8 wks pregnant. So I am starting to poop myself already.

I think its just cos pregnancy and me do not mix well, it interfeers with general day to day stuff whereas when you get down to it, the borth bit isn't actually that bad and relativly short. Well compared to 9 months of pregnancy.

Once those contractions kick in, you'll be fine and just want to get everything over and done with and get back home.

Comment to mum2b09, dont worry about a birth plan, I didn't bother and ended up doing everything I said I wouldn't. I wanted the whole naturel thing, why I dont know. The only thing I would change it taking pethodine as it knocked DD out for 3 days after the birth which made feeding a problems. Ended up with an epidural and would go straight for that next time. Just know your options and dont do anything you dont want and listen to your body, it will tell you what you need. Good luck

scary isn't it - in some ways easier when it happens as you just get on with it. To you first time mums, it will be the most amazing thing it the world when you first hold your baby though - there is no experience like it and the pain will be worth it in a second - that is why we do it again!
