Get your mind sorted! Make sure there's nothing lurking on your 'to do' list that is holding you up.

And more sex!

now...are you doing that all at once

Hassled · 08/02/2009 13:55

Playing football in the garden worked with me for DC4 - waters broke an hour later.

Astarte · 08/02/2009 13:59

Ooh I'd love to feel the gush of waters going. Never happened yet unfortunately.

I do feel ready today I admit. Very calm. Thought she was coming yesterday as BH ramped up and I had to open my bowels continuously, but it all fizzled out.

Best knickers eh?
Will try it, should fit but may not exactly look right, but hell it's not like I'm pole dancing for anyone is it?

I even looked at fresh pineapple today

more sex i think
worked for me

Astarte · 09/02/2009 13:25

....it's not working for me.

Add to that list visualisation of opening cervix, talking to baby to try and convince her to come out and rotating hips on birthing ball.

Raspberry leaf tea? Get it from a proper herbalist/health food shop who can advise you on how to take it.

Trampoline?

Phoenix · 09/02/2009 13:30

Trimming your fanjo is bound to set you off

mummy2t · 09/02/2009 13:35

lol!!!!!!!!! well in my experience i am lucky if i can find it my the time i am 9months!!

Astarte · 09/02/2009 13:38

raspberry leaf tea - check
fanjo trimmed, I did have to get Dh to, erm, tidy up my hatchet job tho'.

I do have some clary sage oil, which I was saving for just such a desperate point as this.
Smelling of wet dog is never a good thing so I was holding off, but I think it's time to get some stink on.

Yeah i can remember been somewhat "uneven" down there!

KT1983 · 09/02/2009 15:56

Im 40weeks today & ive been trying, sex, Raspberry Leaf tea, pineapple, bouncing on a birthing ball, long walks, swimming, dancing around the kitchen like a lunatic, spicy food...

All of which have not helped this little lady budge - Think im in this for the long haul

Good Luck Astarte hope you get going soon x

mummy2t · 09/02/2009 18:21

i strongly recommend Orgasm!!! worked 4 me!! Its not the having sex that does it unless you orgasm! It releases a hormone that sets it all off if your body is ready.

LuLuBai · 09/02/2009 18:30

-Advance Warning- I have not personally tried and tested this method but was reliably informed that BJ with swallowing helps.

Some enzyme in his err...

Or if at 40 weeks that sounds a bit much you could just eat through 3 whole fresh pineapples. I did that last time (along with curry + beer, sex and all the rest). None of it worked. She turned up fashionably late when she wanted to.

AnnVan · 09/02/2009 18:37

I've heard about the swallowing too - It's the prostoglandins in the semen apparently. Can't help though - I tried curry, Pineapple rlt, reflexology, long walks - none of it worked (oh and had 3 sweeps - think it may have been the 3rd one that FINALLY got the little blighter to move) won't tell you how overdue he was as don't want to depress you.

Astarte · 09/02/2009 21:09

But if EPO works better when placed next to the cervix, why would semen be better if swallowed?
Unless it was a fella who came up with that one

Have decided to tempt fate, Dh is emptying and refilling the pool as I type.....applying Sod's Law and all that!
Bound to set me off isn't it?

OP posts:
MKG · 09/02/2009 21:33

Swallowing EPO is effective too. My midwife advises to take it orally.

LuLuBai · 10/02/2009 06:15

Yup - I reckon that it was a bloke who conducted the EPO study.

Hope the birthing pool works.

When I was overdue some friends and I went to a sofa shop and sat on all the sofas convinced that sods law would mean my waters would break on a brand new showroom sofa (we didn't take my DH as he would have thought the plan ludicrous and potentially very expensive!).

Didn't work anyway.

Thing is, Baby is not going to stay in there forever. So even if it feels like forever right now, it will put in an appearance before too long. Hang in there!
