I'm about to start my dissertation for a midwifery degree and I'm planning to do something related to acupuncture in labour, probably for pain relief. Has anyone tried it? Views? Suggestions? 5,000 words (with references)

DD2 is due in 3 weeks, I'll let you know then. Hope you'll get some more responses.

I gave birth in Finland and acupuncture was available. I laboured in a birthing pool with needles stuck in my lower back and it was brilliant, didn't feel the need for any other pain relief.

Later I had some more acupuncture when my milk was slow in rising - another success.

So yes, deffo recommended! In fact I can't understand why such a safe, cheap, no-side-effects method of pain relief isn't more generally available.
