Any midwifes out there?

Hiya,
Im paranoid that this preg is going to be like my last one!!
Im currently 14weeks+, so have a long time to go, but just wondering what you think?
Last time i suffered with high blood pressure and was an inpatent in the hospital for a week. I was then monitored throughout the labour etc, where they found ds was distressed. Waters broken, oxytocin drip etc.
Forceps delivery, and many stiches, i asked how many, and dr said it was best if i never knew!!
The mw i see has been great, but it can feel like she has to say it (iykwim!).

im not a midwife, but did have preeclampsia in first pregnancy and had to be induced, ventouse delivery. sticthes the lot.
during second pregnancy i was scared stiff, like yourself, so went and bought a blood pressure monitor. at the time it was £80 from boots, but worth every penny for my peace of mind.
also read everything i could find about it. only ten percent of women get it in a subseequent pregnancy, so it is highly unlikely that you will be one of them. also, if none of the women in your family,, eg mom, sis etc , have had high blood pressure then you are unlikely to get it.
so please try to enjoy this time with your first baby. two is quadruple the work, not double.

jofeb04 - as a midwife I see many women who have had high blood pressure first time round, have no problems at all with the second. There are a few women who do have high blood pressure again so you will be watched carefully. The risk is low though. Second labours tend to be better because the body knows what to do and the first baby makes way for the rest. Hopefully your BP will be fine and you will be able to go into labour yourself which can be easier than being induced. The chances of forceps again are minute. Enjoy your pregnancy
