Inspired from another thread... if you went early (38 weeks ish) with 1st DC, did you go early the next time(s)?

I had DS at 38 weeks PG, I am now PG again so wondering if I might go early again? Do you think subsequent labours happen around the same time or is it totally random?

My dd was born 3 days before due date (so not strictly early, but certainly didn't hang about the way I expected a first baby would!) And ds was born 10 days before his due date. Both fast labours. I am convinced that if I had another baby it would be earlier than that. Not planning on testing that theory though!

MumtoCharlieandLola · 23/01/2009 21:19

I reckon its random. I had DS1 at 37 weeks and DS2 spot on the due day.

It was v. funny, I had to take DS1 to my parents house when my waters broke and my dad was hopping around in a panic in the kitchen incase DS2 popped out on the floor {grin]

At 10lb 14oz, believe me, he did not pop out !

oops

ilikeyoursleeves - I went at 37+5 weeks with DD1 so stupidly thought I would be early or even on time with DD2, oh no 41+5 so she was incubated 4 weeks longer than her sister. Funnily enough DD3 was 40+5 weeks so no pattern at all.

Labours got shorter though

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/01/2009 21:23

Waters broke with DS1 at 36.5 weeks. Taken to hospital, nothing happened, left to my own devices but induction planned for 38 weeks. DS1 came of his own accord at 37.5 weeks.

Waters broke with DS2 at 36 weeks and he came that day!

frazzledfairy · 23/01/2009 21:25

ds1 was 6 days early, ds2 9 days early, and dd 15 days early so yes, mine got progressively earlier! (not having a fourth)

simpson · 23/01/2009 21:29

I had DS at 38+2
DD came on her due date, but by my dates was 6 days late (whole different story!!)

Definately agree labours got shorter.

But am not having a 3rd!!

sparkle12mar08 · 24/01/2009 21:51

Sadly not! Ds1 was 37+5, and 6hrs flat, ds2 40+1 and 2hrs! So if we ever go for a third am expecting to go 42wks and pop it out in a lunch break! But seriously, I suspect it's just luck of the draw unless you have a medical issue that predisposes you to early labours.

I was induced with ds1 at 38 weeks and ds2 came on his own at 39 +4. Let's hope this one is like her brothers.

ChasingSquirrels · 24/01/2009 22:35

ds1 - started at 36+6, born 37+0 (not a long labour, just over midnight).
ds2 - started at 36+6 and born at 36+6 (an even shorter labour)

expatinscotland · 24/01/2009 22:35

dd1 - 38 weeks+6
dd2 - 38+2
ds - 40+1

watershed · 24/01/2009 23:38

ds1 38+4,late evening; ds2 38+4, late evening!

ChasingSquirrels · 24/01/2009 23:40

lol watershed, mine were 10.30pm waters and 11.30pm waters. Almost identical, but ds2 was a fast forward version.

laumiere · 25/01/2009 12:46

I had DS1 stupidly early at 31+5, (premature spontaneous rupture of membranes) and am currently 33+6 with DS2 so in my case, second is definitely later!

Oumasrusks · 25/01/2009 12:52

I had DD1 at 39 weeks exactly and DD2 was born at 36 weeks, so it did get earlier for me.
