If you went to 42weeks the first time, did you go overdue the 2nd+ time?

Hello - just wondering whether there was any kind of relationship? I was induced at 42 weeks last time (after possibly the longest 2 weeks of my life!), and I'm wondering if that means I should expect to be twiddling my thumbs again this June. (although I'm never ever ever going to be induced again no matter what!)
Cheers
Claire

DD1 40+10 induced ended in emc
DD2 bang on her due date. Forceps delivery. No real warning that labour was imminent second time but 2 false alarms first time round. Go figure.

Ds1 41.6 spontanious
dd1 41.5 induced
Dd2 39.5 spontanious

The induction was by far the best labour for me.

Yes, all 4 were 42 wks. All 4 induced. There does seem to be a pattern emerging...

smellyeli · 23/01/2009 21:28

Sorry - both induced at 42 weeks!

I was really not up for it the second time, and ended up going to 40+15 although I have to say that the second time was a lot easier - pessary worked first time and pushed for 9 minutes as opposed to 90!

Good luck - those last two weeks seem to go on forever......

ds1 was 12 days late, induced
ds2 was 10 days late, was booked in for elective section but had a sweep and worked 48 hrs later.

Wishing you lots of luck

DC1 42 weeks
DC2 40 + 10

zoggs · 23/01/2009 23:06

DD 42 wks, induced
DS1 42 + 2, induced
DS2 40 + 5, spontaneous

Disenchanted3 · 23/01/2009 23:08

DS1 42+1 - induced

DS2 - 40 weeks spontaneous
DD1 - 39+6 spontaneous (well with the help of a good sweep)

Gosh, thanks for all the replies. I honestly didn't expect there to be much of a pattern, as the midwives I've asked have been fairly non committal. I know each pregnancy is different ya di ya, but this helps me to plan for another long pregnancy (and hope to be pleasantly surprised), rather than hopping up and down for the last two or so weeks like last time.

very impressed with those of you trying hot sex at 42+ weeks! Although this time round DH is under early warning that he has to get me out of this since he got me into it in the first place, but I imagine the sex might not be that hot .

ds 40+14 spontaneous
dd 40+3 also spontaneous

DS1 induced at 42 weeks (already 2 cm after 2 days of early labour)

DS2 arrived unexpectedly early at 38 + 6 (no real contractions to speak of before hand - and from waters breaking it was under 5 hours till DS2 came out) - didnt try anything to get him out early as was fairly sure he'd turn up around 40/41 weeks...

Nighbynight · 13/02/2009 21:32

yes.
3 overdue

Bainmarie · 13/02/2009 21:54

Yes, all three overdue. Although no 2 didn't need inducing, arrived on induction day.
Good luck!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 13/02/2009 21:58

ds1 induced 16 days over

d2 arrived on his due date much to my surprise as I'd had no signs whatsoever!
