Birth Pool in a box - Should I buy extra liner for practice filling?

I think I've decided to go for the Birth Pool in a box for my home birth. Just wondering if I really need to buy an extra liner just to practice filling the thing before the big day. What do you think?

Well, i would say yes.

a) it's a good idea to practice filling it (your DH this is) so he/you knows how long it takes. And whether your hot water tank can cope or if you need to get some big saucepans/extra kettles on the go.

b) it's also good for Dh to practice how long it takes to empty the thing - and decide which method he will use (it is NEVER your job to empty it btw )

c) once it's filled i defy you not to get in
it is absolutely fab to get in, take all that bump weight off and just float around for a bit. It's a cross between a huge bath and a sort of jacuzzi. lovely
get a drink nearby, maybe set it up in front of the tv if you're going to and have a relaxed hour.
(i'm envious just talking about it, lol)

d) health warning: with DS1 i got in the pool, loved it, relaxed, (mentally relaxed as we were 'ready') DH got a bit 'interested' shall we say ...
my waters broke 6 hours later....

Enjoy!

Hi, thanks. Just wondering if I really need to use a liner for the practice run. Just begrudging the extra £20 really!

Think of as £10 lesson for DH & £10 spa session for you

Wouldn't bother with a liner. My mw advised just to wipe with dettol wipes.

i had a la bassine one and didnt use a liner,

used it for DS who is 2 but didnt get to use it for DD.

Am putting mine on ebay

emailed the company and they said liners aren't needed, just disinfect with dettol
