Wet/ dry labour?

Is there a difference?

my waters broke before my contractions had started (they started about 6 hours later)
i was pushing for around 2 hours. From breaking waters to birth was 18 hours. Not horrendus and will can do it again!

I hadnt heard of this until i was talking to my friend and she said that a "dry labour was better" i dont really understand what the differnce is!

I thought you wise mn'ers could help!

Does she mean contracting without your waters breaking?

If so, my waters broke first with ds1, then cx.
With ds2 cx started first. And boy they were worse! I felt i was going to 'burst' with each cx. i was willing my waters to go - turned out he was breech so the pressure on the sac wasn't as much as if his head had been pushing.

I would go with wet labour anytime!

I would add that although more painful it was much much much quicker having a dry labour. DD shot out on a wave

My waters were broken with ds1 at the begining - cue 8hrs of agony and me screaming the place down.

My wasters didn't go untill the first push with ds2 and it was the most peacfull.relaxed birth ever with no screaming (untill the push)

I am definatley fine untill my waters go, my midwife said its becuase all the time the waters are in tact they are cushioning the cervix when they break its the bone in the babys head grinding into your pelvic bone causing the worsened pain.
