Have you heard of this pain-relief method?

Hi Mumsnetters,

Yesterday my midwife told me that they have a method of natural pain relief for labour that involves an injection of sterile water under the skin of your lower back. You then get a warm comforting feeling round your whole middle body apparently. I've never heard of this before...have you?

(I live in Scandinavia by the way)

Some midwives use it here in the US. Stings like hell to go in though.

Thanks for the info! I'm originally from the UK and I don't think they have that method there. My MW said it was a really good way to relieve pain in a more natural way (not sure I like the sound of the pain it gives when it's first injected though....)
