contractions started at 4am this morning and have been going on all day. Started off 15 mins apart slowly getting to 6 mins apart (whilst i was walking around) now i'm getting tired, and have lay down on my side for a bit, they slow right down to every 15 mins again.

If I get up and walk about they get more regular again. They're getting quite painful and lasting 1.5 mins each and i'm mooing through some however others are bearable. Have had a bath and have my tens on.

my fingers have swollen too and have taken my rings off - should i head over to labour ward soon? i've rung them and they are keen for me to stay here in case my ctx stop when I get there...

Nothing really to say except GOOD LUCK!!!!

thanks - I'm just waiting for them to regularly get to 5 mins apart and then i'm planning to go in, but still a bit too irregular I think.
Just a bit worried about the sausage fingers!

Sit down have a rest you'll need your energy for labour, with dd2 mine did this I went in early then they stopped (they wanted to get me a bed but i refused) but they [ctx] then started with a vengence at midnight after I'd had a couple of hours sleep...

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

if you are worried then call back... even if irregular, does not mean you are not in labour

is it your first?

nipple stim can help strengthen them and get them going a bit more

I am no expert but my first labour didn't have regular contractions. They came in pairs, 2 really quite close together, different lengths, and then nothing for 10 minutes. If you wait for regularity you might have to wait a long time if you are like me. The midwives told me to stay at home but I needed to go in anyway as my waters had already gone and I was supposed to be monitored. I was 5 cms when I got to hospital, even with irregular contractions.

Not saying that is what will happen to you but it might be worth getting checked out.

A much more exciting thread!

Do you want to go in?

hambo · 14/01/2009 18:27

good luck!!!

Good luck! Mine were like this for 2 days (sorry don't wanna scare you!) but i did go in once to get checked. Then i had a huge contraction and waters went, had sudden feeling of no pain. They said have a bath then come in. I headed straight in and contractions restarted every 1-2mins, had my little boy 5 hours later. Guess what i'm trying to say is don't be worried to go in if you wanna get checked and listen to your own instincts (i'm glad i didn't have the bath as by the time i got there i would have been panicking if any later)
