as i had my dd2 vbac 14 weeks ago (1st was em c-section). now im on my 2nd AF since i gave birth and it feels like ive just had given birth 4 weeks ago! as my fanjo is feeling sore and i last made love 2 weeks ago.

it took me 10 weeks to started to feel abit better from my childbirth as ended up having 2nd degree tear and a small graze that never seems to recover. i was pushing for 2 hours!

Also my dp is very gentle with me when we make love (we use k y jelly and condoms) but few hours later i felt like i had rough sex!

is this normal?

thanks

It took me between 3 and 4 weeks to recover from my first birth. I had a few stitches due to a small tear which was sore, but healed quickly.
I was stiff and generally felt a bit beaten up for the first week, but this gradually got better. I also had piles (tmi) which were a complete bastard and still haven't cleared up entirely nearly 2 years on, they come and go, but I am currently pregnant with dc2 so I guess they come back to haunt you!
Had big problems breast feeding and super sore boobs and nips which stopped when I resorted to FF.
Was back to normal pretty quickly though, it helped at the time we were living in a country with a warm climate and I did a fair bit of walking everyday!

Everyone is so differenent. I had a ventouse (sp ?) and episiotomy delivery. I used lavander and tea tree oil in the bath every day for a week and felt almost 'normal' by the end of the week.

As for sex, well yes it still feels a bit uncormfortable at times and thats a year on but nothing I'm worried about.

I would get the scar looked at again.

Sex (penetration) did not feel normal for me until about 9m after

BUt I needed stitches after a 2nd degree tear. It's absolutely fine now, and that's after ANOTHER load of stitches after a 2nd degree tear...

Hope it improves for you

Normal. I've not recovered yet, and DS is 6!

Totally normal - took me a good 2 or 3 months to feel entirely back to normal and another month to stop feeling abit sore after sex (not that we had much after DS!)

pleasechange · 07/01/2009 20:02

It took me about 5 months to feel totally normal down below (had ventouse and episiotomy)

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 08/01/2009 11:21

Still not normal on the poo front 4 months later, but I had a 3rd degree tear. Sex is fine, but a bit tender at times. The last stitch has only just dissolved though!

I had with DD1 ventouse and forcepts (and episiotomy) and my nether regions felt well and truly alien to me for about 12 weeks.

I used tea tree oil, lavender oil and milk in bath from day 1 at home and this made a huge difference. Also, all my midwifes kept commenting on how much of a neat job had been done with my stitches.

At one stage about 2 weeks after the birth I was truly considering buying a inflatable rubber ring because I was so uncomfrtable.

Also, I had what I thought was piles but was not - it was actually a fissure brought about by the episiotomy and the forcepts and this lasted about 6 months before it started to heal.

I also just felt really weak after the birth, and had pelvic pain from the labour which meant I could not walk normally until about 12 weeks, and run from about 5 months. [when I see this that I have written I realise how bloody horrendous my first birth was, compared with my very enjoyable second!]

I had a section my dd1 and then a vbac with ds2 and I had ventouse with a few stiches. It took around 4/5 months before sex was pain free.
