Do Chorley do inductions?

Am due in 9 weeks, live in Essex and in about 6 weeks will be going to stay with my boyfriend's parents in Lancs - hoping to escape the appalling Essex healthcare and have my sprog in the Chorley + South Ribble District General.

Hopefully this won't apply, but I'm wondering whether, in the case of having to be induced, I'd have to be transferred to the Royal Preston. Chorley's a smal midwife-led unit and I seem to recall reading at some point recently that they were therefore not equipped to perform inductions. Was not told this when I was given a tour of the hospital and cretinously didn't ask at the time.

Any ideas? Cheers in advance.

you can only be induced in a CLU, not in a free standing birth centre or MLU , as far as I know. unless there is a medical reason , you should not be induced. so hopefully you can use the MLU

No Chorley don't do inductions i'm afriad, you'd have to go to Royal Preston. Chorley is great for straight forward biths tho and is very nice once the baby is born for the 'relaxing' and help the MW's give (so I've been told by friends!)
I'm having to go to Preston (much to my annoyance as wanted a home birth)... but we won't go into that as I get wound up!!

good luck! x

My sister had her 2nd and 3rd children at Chorley - she was due to be induced both times and would have had to go to Preston but fortunately for her, labour started spontaneously both times.

They only do straight-forward births at Chorley (and certainly when my sister had her 2nd 7 years ago) they didn't do first time births either - but things may have changed.

I echo what Jen said - my sis said the aftercare was brill at Chorley
