(not in the sense of cigarettes lol before I get flamed....I meant in the old hunting sense!!!)

Technically not due till 26th, & I have suspicions could be a bit later as the date they reckon I conceived is impossible - about a week too early.

But with due dates this close, I'm soooooo desperate for a Christmas baby: it's making this final week even more unbearable than otherwise!!!

just wanted a rant & some sympathy lol...or any induction tips? (I've tried pineapples, vindaloo, good ol' nipple tweaking and walking...so far to no avail!!!)Am having constant tummy cramps now & lower back ache, but no progression...sigh

xx

I was exactly like you this time last year!! Felt like there was so much pressure being due around christmas. Although I was due on the 23 and didn't have her till the 29th! Tried everything, nothing worked and she was a small baby even though overdue so I think she just wasn't ready to come out. To be honest, I won't bother this time round.

dinkystinkyclaus · 23/12/2008 15:21

If baby is ready to come, lots of people swear by acupuncture. The cramps and backache are all good signs that maybe you're getting ready to pop. May be worth a go. Pineapples, curry, tweaking and walking did nothing for me am afraid.

HensMum · 23/12/2008 15:23

Acupuncture didn't work for me but it is lovely and relaxing so would recommend it to anyone. And I did have a super quick labour so maybe it helped with that.

OHBollox · 23/12/2008 19:54

Shagging is meant to work and reflexology, just booking the appointment worked for me.

aidansyummymummy · 23/12/2008 20:00

Really seriously do you really want a christmas baby? My sister was born on Christmas day and hates it....

cece · 23/12/2008 20:02

If he is born after Christmas yo can get his birthday present in the Sales every year

feb · 23/12/2008 20:09

using an evening primrose oil capsule as a pessary is supposed to work

aidansyummymummy · 23/12/2008 20:52

Cece......love your thinking!

frasersmummy · 23/12/2008 20:55

do you want to leave xmas dinner in your dash for the hospital???

or not be allowed to eatanything but ice all day

I know its hard I do.. but enjoy your last restful xmas and have him on the 27th...

QueenEagle · 23/12/2008 21:00

Both my youngest 2 were due on Xmas Day. ds3 came on 3rd Jan and I am so glad he didn't come on the big day. ds 4 was induced on 16th Dec and his birthday gets caught up in the rush of Xmas so we have to make lots of effort to make it very birthday-ey for him. It's better when they have a separate birthday imo.

Sit baCK AND ENJOY THE DAY...!

BlueSapphire77 · 23/12/2008 21:03

Um.
Risk of sounding nasty but i was told oral sex would bring on labour .. i mean to swallow it.. apparently some african tribe or another drink semen mixed with water.. i'm gunna sharrap now lol

frasersmummy · 23/12/2008 21:07

hahah .. bluesapphire...

thats one I didnt know about 4 years ago!!

SleighGirl · 23/12/2008 21:20

January much better for birthday then Dec, we've always got dd1 presents in the sale, or in fact held back half of her Christmas presents and made them birthday presents when I got carried away with the shopping!

BlueSapphire77 · 23/12/2008 21:24

I know..its embarrassing lol
That i know about it i mean. Well its a good excuse to use on fella if nothing else

So tell him he can have a 'special' present on xmas eve, or whatever, and grin and bear the salty washing up liquid ... oh jeez i can't believe i am like, saying this stuff out loud

SleighGirl · 23/12/2008 21:41

orgasms help much more than sex itself apparantly.

metoo2222 · 23/12/2008 21:54

DS2 was due 26th Dec - came in Jan!

ThatAngelsGotATreeUpHerArse · 23/12/2008 21:57

It could have been coincidence, but swallowing a dessert spoon of castor oil (YUK - have the orange juice ready to get rid of the taste) did the trick for me. Within 2 hours my waters had broken... all over my friend's mum's sofa

Like I say - it could have been coincidence, DS may just have been ready to be born IYKWIM.

BlueSapphire77 · 24/12/2008 14:08

Sleighgirl: agreed but only if you have a partner who isn't a selfish git.. if giving birth relied on partner giving you a big 'O' then i'd be preg well into next year hehehe

BoyMeetsWorld · 24/12/2008 14:46

thanks guys....you made me laugh lots at least!!!

cece ...can def see that's good logic re: sales shopping!!

hmmm I wonder if it's orgasms that are more important whether the old "manual" approach is just as good lol? (I'm separated sadly, but don't fancy ummm...cross-pollinating...my baby haha!)

I remember being told that fresh pineapple can bring on labour, as can champagne and spicy food. Looks like your lunch is a biryani washed down with dom perignon, followed by fresh pineapple for dessert.

Clary sage oil might help too - in an oil burner or in the bath (dissolved with some bubble bath).

my second baby was due on23 dec but came on 2nd of jan.I had my brothers wedding on 29 of dec,so was much easier going pregnant than with a new born, and having parties on 2nd of january much easier than christmas week. Now i'm glad she waited, but I know the waiting is horrible.

NAB3hundredChristmaslights · 24/12/2008 15:27

Don't try castor oil!

SleighGirl · 24/12/2008 20:40

I can't think of anything worse than Christmas Day/Boxing Day/New Years Day being sore down below, sore cannon balls for boobs and a screaming baby that wants feeding every 2 hours! 2 weeks late sounds like a good option to me (and yes I've gone to 42 weeks twice so I know how unbearable the waiting is)

LenniEd · 24/12/2008 21:55

DD was due 26th Dec - and I was desperate for her to be here for xmas too - born 28th. Can entirely sympathise but be careful what you wish for my waters went on xmas morning at 5am - ended up spending xmas day in hospital, only managed to get them to let me go home as turkey was in the oven and they didn't want to be responsible for a house fire cooked dinner for DH and then had to go back to stay overnight. Managed to escape on the 27th to go to the Matalan sale too - but was having contractions the whole way roun the shop - fond memories. This one due 13th Jan so crossing my legs this year!
