Yet again it looks like I am going to miss out on a spontaneous labour and need an induction. Please cheer me with your "no signs of action, to established labour within hours" stories.

I really, really do not want another induction after my horrendous induction and labour with DD1. However, I am booked in on Saturday and due to health and practical constraints I cannot put it off anymore.

Today I had my third sweep. The doctor said I have a Bishop's Score of 6 but that she expects I will not have had the baby by Saturday. I am a little confused by that as I thought a score of 6 was pretty promising. However, I am not having any tightenings and I do not feel like anything is happening.

Please tell me that some people manage to go from nothing to everything really quickly. I can't stand the idea of another long, monitored labour and I really wanted a "going into labour" story. For some reason that is really important to me.

Reflexology was lovely - really relaxed but nothing happening yet, will keep you updated.

Evening primrose oil? What am I supposed to do with it?

Thanks everyone (and "hi" to Kits - how is the marathon training going? Are you going to delay TTC?).

Well it is just possible that acupuncture might have had an affect. By typing this I am sure I will jinx it but I am having low down cramps every 6-7 minutes lasting 45 seconds. They are painful but I can happily talk through them so I am not sure they are real contractions. Nevertheless, this is further than I have ever got naturally before. Maybe one more acupuncture treatment is all I will need (fingers crossed, touch wood etc).

I so hope it will works you can then name the baby after me JOKING.
Relax, have a nice bath and go again tomorrow, it will be what it will be....

EffiePerine · 17/12/2008 22:34

Ooh, good luck!

BlackLetterDay · 17/12/2008 22:46

Oh good luck Artichokes, talking through contractions doesn't mean they aren't real. I could talk through mine and they were very real, the whole not talking thing comes quite late on I think.

Fab news. Going to continue with the marathon training on the grounds that the best laid plans, and all that.....

We had IVF for the twins but there is a sign (pregnancy and miscarriage four months after the girls were born) that we might be able to do things naturally so we're going to let nature take its course for a year and see what happens. Probably nothing, but the intention is there. And my theory is that if I plan something massive, like a marathon, then sod's law might happily intervene and I'll miraculously get pregnant quickly. Unlikely, but I live in hope. The last time I got into the marathon I got pregnant through IVF and so it has worked before.

See that you had a night of twinges - great sign. If you can find the energy I'd head back to Zita this morning for another session. That might be the final tweak you need!

Good luck and I hope it goes really well.
Kx

Sounds like a good plan Kits. I am a true beleiver in the power of sod's law! Good luck with both endevours.

Not sure what to do about my appointment with Zita. Its at 3pm and at the moment I am having contractions every 12 mins and would not dare get on the Tube as they are strong. However, they are not getting closer together or stronger so I may need the treatment. DH could drive me but 40 mins in the car each way might be agony...

Good luck!

VinoEsmeralda · 18/12/2008 13:55

Artichokes- call them and see if they can come to your place instead. Mine did....

EffiePerine · 18/12/2008 16:16

How are things going? Sounds like the acupuncture did the job

sjcmum · 18/12/2008 16:20

Interesting to read this... good luck Artichokes - thinking of you, and hope by now that you are on your way to having your baby!

I'm only a couple of days overdue - but was convinced it would be on time or early as dd1 was on time..... saw midwife yesterday who said cervix still posterior, and not soft.... so good to hear everyone's stories of things happening after being told that, as I was a bit down yesterday, convinced that I'm going to have to wait ages.....

Vino - you said you are in Oxford and recommend acupuncture - I'm in Oxford too, would be interested to get a recommendation in case this all drags out longer???
Thanks

VinoEsmeralda · 18/12/2008 17:07

SCJmum- the lady I used is called Samantha Jessel and used her for both my pregnancies and can truly say she make both pregnancies easier. Would call her asa becasue of Christmas & New year plus might also give her a chance to recommend somebody else if she is not around. Hope it goes well!!

sjcmum · 19/12/2008 13:15
