40.4 had a sweep and have a short cervix not really sure of the implications??

Hi All U am 40+4 and had a sweep at the consultants yesterday and she said it was difficult to reach my cervix but said it was very short, this is the first I have heard of having a short cervix, I have looked some stuff up but it just give you lots of info about having a prem baby has anyone experienced this before and wat is the implications?

Being 40+3 your cervix being short is a good sign, it means it's getting ready to dilate for the birth. I think it first shortens & then opens.. I think I've got that the right way round damn pregnancy brain

Your cervix needs to shorten before labour. So its good news for you that it is short.

I think our cervix's are normally about 3-4cm and they need to be totally flat before the baby can come out.

I am 40+2 and my cervix length has gone from 4cm to 1cm so far.
