How does it feel when the baby's head starts engaging in the pelvis ?

Is it painful ? Or do you feel nothing at all ?
5 weeks to go for me...just can't wait !

Thanks for your answers

Flo

Not painful for me, but like permanently sitting on top of a large concrete egg. But from the inside, IYSWIM.

Made cycling uncomfortable, nothing else

dd1 I felt nothing at all
dd2 a grinding sensation

I actually felt an excrutiating pain down below when walking home from work when my first moved down. I had to go sit down and thought I was going into labour.
With the second I felt nothing, except that my pelvis did feel fuller and ached more, esp when laying on my side.

With great difficulty!

Balance wasn't problem, but actually pedalling created a sort of grinding sensation around the groin and hips. Most wierd and not very nice

ditto Gizmo, I felt as though I was sitting on a melon.
Good luck MamanFlo!

Not painful, just couldn't be very far from a loo after that. Two words: bladder pressure.

misdee · 22/03/2005 15:53

it was like i could breathe properly as the baby wasnt pressing against my ribs any, ore. but made me want to pee more as well.

SofiaAmes · 22/03/2005 23:38

Like walking with a melon wedged between your legs. BUT don't hold your breath. My first never did engage until I was 20 hours into my labor. 2nd child engaged a few weeks before.

mummytosteven · 22/03/2005 23:41

My DS didn't engaged till the day before labour started, even tho first baby. Like other posters said, all I noticed was needing the loo a bit more!

Nik72 · 23/03/2005 17:53

Noticed needing to pee more, the breathlessness & rib pain suddenly got a lot better.

MamanFlo · 26/03/2005 13:27

thanks for your experiences...it hasn't happened to me yet...breathlessness and rib pain has been constant over the last three days...

28 days to go...

oups ! I think my baby has progressed down last night...I could actually feel something was going on inside and 5 minutes later my chest feeling relieved. It is much easier to breathe now.
I felt a few mild contractions as well...baby girl could be 26 days early...let's see...
