This is my 5th pregnancy and i am a week overdue the last two children arrived at 40weeks and 39 weeks . Have tried all the usual methods to help induce labour but none have been successful. I am trying to get used to idea that I may have to be induced. Does anybody know if this would be done by breaking my waters combined with using a drip or by using prostagland pessaries.

Hi Dukester, when i was induced they inserted the pessary, contractions started about 7 hours later and when i was about 3cms dilated they broke my waters to try and speed things up, and it definatly worked!

I never had the drip, i think they may use that if the pessaries don't work but i'm not sure.

Hope things get going for you soon!

Go and ask the m/w for a sweep, she can check whether your cervix is well on it's way and it might start you off naturally, better than being induced anyday ime
