Has anyone given birth happily in Shropshire. I hate the the Royal Shrewsbury as the Doctor who works there was horrid to me over a baby, similar attiutude to conjoined twins lady. Is West Midlands any better i need a caring team not trauma !

I had both mine at RSH and had lovely births with no problems. Perhaps you were just unlucky with one doctor - you can always ask not to have that doctor.

If you're the other side of Shrewsbury/Shropshire, apparently there's a new little midwife led unit at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic and District Hospital in Oswestry, with two birth pools, six beds etc.

Ah, here we are:

A new Midwife-Led Maternity Unit opened in Oswestry in November 2007, thanks to a partnership between the Trust, the Oswestry Maternity Action Group, Shropshire County Primary Care Trust and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic and District Hospital NHS Trust.

The new unit, in specially refurbished accommodation, offers low-risk, midwife-led delivery alongside a range of other services incuding ante-natal clinics and scanning equipment which has been donated by the Oswestry Maternity Action Group following donations from people in Oswestry and surrounding areas.

thank you for the suggestions. The male doctor at RHS was vile and even when i saw another doctor I sometimes saw him which made me shake palm sweats etc.. Princess Royal is a little better not as many smoking teenage mothers that don`t give a toss about having a child healthwise and me desperate after years of problems and losses. ( sorry to vent)

You vent away, that's what mumsnet's for! I hope you find somewhere you feel comfortable and safe to have your baby.
