Its DC2. Due date in 10 days.

Dr did internal this morning (not sure why) and said that I am 2cm dilated but cervix is still thick.

Does anyone know what this means???

Is the baby likely to come very soon? Or does the thickness mean that we have a long while to go yet?

look at the bishops score, doesn't sound like much is happening tbh. You would have been 1cm dilated before you even got pregnant because it's not your first.

From what i know, it could mean anything - now, or next week. I got to 2cm when induced but then nothing happened until they did more stuff. there are lots of factors and how dilated you are is just one of them i think.

I agree, it could mean anything. I had a show with my first and went into labour a week later...
Was your first late or early? Mine were both 2 days late... which again, doesn't mean much as expected due date is not fixed in stone either.
But you are nearly there artichokes !!!

Isn't how pliable the cervix is have something to do with it? Think the cervix has to get out of the way of the baby and placenta, so if it's still thick, then you have a little while to go....

Think it must be very difficult to tell as I was three cm and cervix 'thick-ish' at 3pm last month and they sent me home, I phoned at 7pm-ish and they told me to take paracetamol and have a bath. Dd arrived about 15 mins later, we never made it to hospital.....

hi

i agree with chocbiscuits, my waters broke at home with my first daughter, i went to hospital they told me that i was posterior and no sign of labour, if nothing happened in two days to go back an be induced.

i went home and 3 hrs later my pains were every 4 mins but after ringing the maternity unit i was told to go to bed and see how i felt in the morning, especially as first baby could take 12 hrs.

after getting no joy my husband rang and we then went in and i was told at 2am i was 2cm dilated and it could take hours, 2 hrs later at 4am i was fully dilated and ready to give birth, by 5am she was born, and i never had time for any pain releif.

it just shows you can never tell and they will come when they want to.
