I have just had a sudden gush of pink watery liquid (only about a tablespoonful). It is definitely not wee. I am 39+2 and have not had a show yet. Any ideas whether this is a sign of things starting or is it something else ?

Any help most welcome.

It's a show
Expect labour to commence within the next few days

Put a pad in your knickers to see if more fluid leaks. Amniotic fluid is, I think, straw coloured and sweet smelling (at least that's what I've been told).

Maybe call your midwife/maternity unit for advice (think they'll advise you to put a pad in so you can check the discharge/fluid leak).

agree with pooka.
a show is usually much thicker, jelly-ish stuff.

could be a bit of waters going

Thank you so much for repsonses ladies.

misdee did they leak for long before labour started ? Was yours pink too ?

I called triage and they want to see me tomorrow 9am to check me out and do a scan. Am rhesus -ve so they tend to be more cautious when there is a suspected bleed.
