Any reassuring stories about third births? Worried I'm having this baby at 34 weeks!

Am 34 weeks with DC3. Baby head down, engaged "set to go" says midwife. fairly regular, breathtaking but not painful braxton hicks, traces of show over the last two weeks, but nothing dramatic.
Moving house tomorrow, blood pressure sky high, very very stressed out!!
First baby 39 weeks...
Second baby 38 weeks...
Anyone want to reassure me that I'm not going to have this baby on the removal truck tomorrow?

I was told with my 3rd that they engage and disengage regularly when you are on your 2nd plus baby. I was having regular runs of BH contractions for weeks leading up to being induced at 37wks with my 3DC (for maternal health issues) My cervix was hight and less than 1cm at that point!

You do need to relax though (easier said than done!)

You are not going to have your LO on the removal truck tomorrow!! there said it ** disclaimer although I truely believe this I can't guarantee it since my name is not mystic meg!

Ah thank you, Squidgy brain - I kind of though that with your first baby engaged fairly early on but in 2nd/3rd etc engagement meant things were kind of imminent (sp!)....

I had lots of false starts with ds2 (dc3)from about 34 weeks or so. A couple of times I nearly called dh home because I honestly thought I was in labour. He also bobbed in and out of my pelvis like a blinking yo-yo . The day I went into labour the mw wouldn't even do a sweep because he was so high.

3rd babies are trouble .

But I very much doubt you're going to go into labour tomorrow

How much do you have to be there tomorrow? Could you delegate a lot and keep out of the worst of the upheaval?

Ive got 3 children. First was on time, 2nd was 10days late and 3rd was a week late. Your baby will appear when ready, move or no move. Goodluck - I love having 3 kids.

wow, Olihan, your cakes are amazing! (and you have gorgeous children - but wow, the cakes...)

Thank you .

DD1 was a week late, DD2 was bang on time so you might expect DD3 to be early, right? Wrong! Was induced at 40+1 for medical reasons as they wanted her out and she wasn't for shifting. Had loads and loads of BH for weeks beforehand too.

Hope the move goes well tomorrow

sweetkitty · 20/11/2008 22:19

3 babies first 15 days early, second 12 days late, third 5 days late

no pattern for me

BigBadMouse · 20/11/2008 22:21

Oh gosh yes 3rd babies are trouble for sure!

dc1 on due date
dc2 a week early
dc3 40+10 after weeks of shows and stop start labour (little monster!)

Throughout the labour the MWs kept saying 3rd ones are always 'unpredictable' - apparently a well known 'fact' amongst MWs. They are notorious for stop/start labours too.

It's worth it though - 3 is fab Good luck with the move.

Olihan · 20/11/2008 22:24

BBM, that's exactly what I was told too. Mind you, when he did get going he was out in 2 hours from the first contraction so it wasn't all bad!

BigBadMouse · 20/11/2008 22:29

Olihan at your 2 hrs. I suppose I did have a pattern with my three

Dc1 32hrs est.
dc2 16 hrs est.
dc3 8 hrs est.

I'm not tempted to have another just to check the pattern continues though

ooops - there appears to be an echo in here

Olihan · 20/11/2008 22:38

Ah, go on, by the time you get to no.7 or 8 you'll only need to sneeze and there's your baby .

Pesha · 20/11/2008 22:39

I had terrible stop start labour for about 3 weeks before ds2 (dc3) was born. A couple of times I really thought it was happening and then would all just die off and it was then that people told me that 3rd babies are notorious for doing this! In the end he was a week late, dd had been 6 days late and ds1 was 5 minutes early!

BigBadMouse · 21/11/2008 09:43

pesha yes that was what happened to me! I actually was admitted by my consultant as he thought DS was very imminent only for it all to die down 5 hours later. Things had been stop/start for 3-4 weeks too.

The worst bit was hearing the woman who had been admitted at the same time as me have her little one in the next room just as things came to a complete halt for me again. I think at that point I became convinced mine was never going to come (but when he did it was worth it all )
