If you had a quick first labour, how quick was your second?

My first labour was 6 hours. I'm pg with DC2 and keep getting people telling me how they had a 6 hour labour the first time and only a 45 minute labour the second time or other ridiculously short times. So, how long was your second labour if you had a quick first one?

bubaloo, you give me hope! had 36 hours with DS and now preg, dreading another marathon..

I swear it was the RLT capsules that did it the 2nd time around. He was certainly in a rush to come out and was 9 days early aswell.
That 45 mins was from 1st contraction at home, went to the hospital, was told I was 10cms and could start pushing and he was out in 2 pushes.Waters burst in the corridor of the hospital and gave birth in my jumper. Was on the phone telling people our good news within the hour.

DD1- 5hrs 20
DD2- 1hr 40
DS- 25mins
I used RLT for 1 & 2 then forgot to do it for no. 3 (glad really I don't think I'd have coped if it was any quicker!!) I was told 2nd babies are generally quicker and 3rds can be a law unto themselves.

ds - about 6 hours (waters broke earlier, but no contractions
dd - about 3 hours. As others have said things progressed much faster with dd - if I hadn't had a bleed at the beginning of the labour there is no way I'd have got to hospital in time ... in fact I was still on a general ward when a passing midwife looked at my face mid contraction & asked if I thought I was ready to push. I suddenly realised I was. dd was bron about 10 mins later

ds1 woke up with pains around 3am and he was born at 0712 so about 4hours and he was 2.5 weeks early
ds2 woke up at 0226 and had him at 0454 so about 2.5 hours and he was 2 days late and has been trouble ever since!!!

OK - can I just clarify - we are all talking about from first twing/contraction to delivery arn't we?
Because if not I am not 3 hrs , 2hrs, under 1 hour but 10 mins 10 mins and 10 mins

MrsGokWan · 26/11/2008 20:42

Yep! I was talking first twinge till baby born. All mine were premarure as well.

MrsGokWan · 26/11/2008 20:44

Ooops!! that should be premature

Only had one so far, but she came in three hours. That's from the first contraction to hello baby. She was a planned homebirth.

Technically my notes say first stage, zero minutes, second stage, nine minutes, third stage, three minutes. But that's only because they told me to toddle off and have a bath etc and a mw would call me in an hour...surprise surprise they ended up nearly missing the whole thing, hence the 'nine minute' labour recorded

Be interesting to see how number two comes, though we're not planning any more yet.

TheLadyEvenstar · 27/11/2008 00:33

Ds1 I had a 2 hr labour from start to finish
Ds2 I had a 4 1/2 minute labour from start to finish...ended up having him at home

LoolaBoys · 28/11/2008 16:44

From 1 st Contraction to birth

DS1 - 4 hours

DS2 - 1 hr 45 mins (home birth as I knew it would be quick)

I really want a third but am worried I would be delivering it on my own with DH
