Do you know anything about caesarean sections? Is this normal?

13 days since birth

Had staples in following emcs, removed a week ago and the area above the scar/wound is almost completely numb - I can stab my nail into the skin and can barely feel it.

Is this normal?

have not had a section but friend did and she had a similar feeling.. she was told not to be concerned by it.

It can stay numb for ages.

My last section was nearly 6 years ago and a very tiny part of my skin around the scar is still slightly numb.

Totally normal. Some of the feeling may not come back at all, but it's not usually a problem. I like the fact that most of my spare tyre is numb - it's easier to pretend it doesn't exist

Nearly 3 years on from my first c/sec i still have no feeling above or below my scar line, i assumed some nerve damage happened during the op.

Agree. Had 3. Is normal. Improves but never goes completely ime.

Afraid so, mine was "dead" for months after. I also have a patch of "dead" in the middle of my back just up from where epidrual was

Normal. As is the overhang of flab over the scar. Wish I'd been warned about both those aspects. Got rid of overhang once I'd lost the excess weight - but it took a while.

God yes that lovely roll of flab - nice.

Is there anything else I should know? I've been bathing it daily with cooled boiled water and letting it air dry, and taking my paracetamol. Is there anything else need to do/know/be prepared for?

Yes another normal here. Mine lasted ages - in fact, just for you I have given myself a prod and (almost) 4 years later I think its fine but then I am pg again so that might have an effect.

Its one of those things they don't tell you. I also had a numb patch on my leg for a few months. Normal aswell apparently.

It's impossible a while before you get rid of tummy owing to "numb" muscles. That's my excuse anyway

They cut through the nerves, so numbness is always apparant unless you have had a classical incision (up and down) as oppossed to bikini line incision.

I had a c-section 19 years ago. Felt some numbness until about 10 years ago.

I just let my scar be ... air dried it and it healed pretty nicely but it was numb for a very long time .. in fact 3.5 years later it is still not totally back to normal!

I took lots of arnica to assist the healing. I'm sure it helped.

As soon as it's healed enough, I found massaging in vitamin e oil really helps it to fade.
