One period, 6 weeks after birth and nothing more since.....

and it's been 6.4 weeks since then. It was very very light bleeding 6 weeks after the birth of DC2. I've done two pregnancy tests, both negative. After DC1, I had a period 6 weeks after birth and then regularly after then.

Is it normal to be this sporadic?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I am on my third child and the same has happened with me. I was regular again by now (my son is 5 and half months)with my other 2 but have had the inital bleed straight after birth and almost nothing since. (I also did a pregnancy test to double check, but not pregnant). I searched the net and it said that how long it takes can vary pregnancy to pregnancy.
Hope it all sorts itself out soon.

I am in the same situation - 5 weeks since last period (which was 6 weeks after baby) and was always regular last time.

Personally I am convinced I am pregnant with triplets.

flimflammum · 08/11/2008 19:56

Are you breastfeeding? With both mine I had a period 6-8 weeks after birth then nothing until 5 or 6 months - it's the bf hormones.

TwinkleToes76 · 08/11/2008 20:48

I was the same as flimflammum - light period about 6 weeks after the birth and then nothing until 7 months post birth, regular from then on (even though still exclusively breastfeeding DD at that point)

Yes I have also had (and heard of) light bleeding 6 weeks after birth, related to BF hormones.

Didn't have first proper period til DD was 7m and on solids.

dont joke waitingtobloom

my friend WAS pg with triplets by 12 weeks!

What a lovely story notanotter lol. I think my brain is blocking it out as I dont seem to be freaked by that idea.

Seriously though - am breastfeeding so that probably explains mine although DD feeds less frequently than DS did and they came back with him.

I had my first period at 6 weeks postnatal, then nothing for a month or two, then spotting every month around the same sort of time; have recently at 6.5mths had a second proper period, probably triggered by her weaning.

Exc BF baby, btw.
